SMU stuffed on 4th and 1 from the 14 and USF will win. Have to figure that if Houston raises Navy’s stature, Navy should in turn raise USF’s stature (and in turn…Temple).
Couple of potentially good games tonight on ESPN/ESPN2:
USC-UCLA to determine Pac South champ (USC or Colorado)
New Mexico at Colo State - New Mexico still in the MWC race
UCLA and Colo St both up 7-0 early
Wyoming surprised SDSt with an upset …
Remember Wyoming has the ole N Dakota St HC who won all those FCS championships … he has FINALLY turned the cowboys around
USC/UCLA games are always unpredictable with the underdog always surprising … I will be rooting for our ole QB however … his offensive schemes have far surpassed his father’s boring 3 yards and a full back draw …
Temple owns the tiebreaker over USF with their win against them. If the Owls beat ECU or USF loses to UCF, Navy and Temple play in the championship (site TBD depending on if Navy can win at SMU).
Fun USC-UCLA game so far. 20-14 with 8:11 left in the 2nd.
Welp, the nightcaps weren’t much better.
USC will beat UCLA by quite a bit. I was wrong earlier; they still need Colorado to lose to Utah to play for the PAC12 Championship.
Colorado State didn’t have too many problems with New Mexico.
Colorado has surprised and been a shocker after being a perineal doormat for many years. The game with Utah will be tough but winnable … THEN … to face the huskies … no rest for the weary.
The B1G has the jump on Pac12 except for Washington … there is talk that two B1G could make the CFP.
B1G is such a mess. If tOSU beats Michigan and Penn State beats Rutgers, Penn State is one champ and Wisconsin is the other as long as they beat Purdue next week (otherwise it’s Nebraska if they beat Maryland). Would eliminate Michigan from the playoff, would probably clinch a playoff spot for the Buckeyes even though they won’t be champ and then there’s the question of what to do with the B1G champ if you’re the committee.
Hopefully, they don’t jump the Big12 into the playoff. The conference’s best OOC win is either Pitt (OSU) or BYU (WVU). Why they have teams ranked in the top 10 & the AAC doesn’t is…sigh.
PAC12 is similar &maybe even a little worse. Best win is either Kansas State (Stanford) or BYU (Utah and UCLA).
Probably should end up as Alabama, tOSU, B1G champ, Clemson.
There will be some controversy if Penn State wins the Big 10 and Washington wins the Pac 12. Still, it should be Alabama, Ohio St, Clemson, Washington if that happens. I can’t see any way that OU or OK St would make it, but I guess it’s possible.
Hope no Big 12 team makes it into the playoffs. The “shrunken” league cowards simply don’t deserve it.
I could see it as Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson & B1G champ - with both the Pac and Big 12 being left out.
