Pet gets monkeypox

You can love your pets, just don’t “love” your pets (no, I didn’t read the article, these are the jokes!)

The D.O.G. Mixed up with monkeypox
what?

Joking aside the window to contain monkeypox is gone. Per docs I know, I know of three young hetero girls who have monkeypox, it has begun spreading beyond the lgbtq community. I am expecting to see out breaks at schools and even a football team this fall.

In other countries it wasn’t in the LGBTQ communities. That’s was just were it spread first here. Still laughing that some on this board thought it was an STD. Morons.

You can’t help it to insult posters.
The fact is and it is undeniable. This virus is primarily spread in the gay community. Check out where and when it spread in Europe.
No you can’t make assumption(s) that it is going to spread to the general non gay community. It is highly irresponsible to do so. The cdc reported 6k cases a few weeks ago and declared an emergency. They purposely took out the details of which community has the vast majority of these casese.
Why did they choose to do so?
Not to offend anyone.
Is offending anyone more important than telling the truth?

Don’t let him hump your leg, I am just saying.

Is he yelling at me?

From what I have read, it is possible to spread monkey pox by respiratory droplets, HOWEVER, it is most easily and most often spread by seminal transfer.

In that regard, it should, at least to some extent, be considered a STD.

Will China shut down now that dogs have monkey pox?

And that is the flaw in thinkingof it as an std. Schools are already taking precautions and approaching it more like MRSA. If it hits a football team it will create havoc.

Once again, misinformation is spreading, notably that the disease is a sexually transmitted infection (STI), and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene recently added to the confusion with a tweet suggesting this false claim.

Infectious disease experts say these types of rumors are damaging.

“It gives a false sense of safety to people who are at risk,” says Dr. Linda Yancey, an infectious disease specialist with the Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston. “If people falsely think this is an STI, they will not take the steps needed to protect themselves.”

And misinformation doesn’t just put people at risk.

Yancey explains that sexually transmitted infections are primarily spread through sexual contact, whether oral, vaginal, or anal. Some, like herpes, can be spread via skin-to-skin contact, but it’s not the primary means.

Monkeypox is the other way around.

“It is passed by skin-to-skin contact,” Yancey says. “You can get monkeypox from someone without having sex with them. In much the same way that you can get COVID from a sex partner without COVID being an STI, you can get monkeypox without it being an STI.”

Not an expert but i do work in the field of rare diseases, but just trying to clarify some myths.

Yes monkeypox can spread to pets. Which was the OP point.

Are some of you so young that you can’t remember when AIDS was a “gay disease?” The straight brother of a friend of mine called him last week saying that he was covered in Monkeypox. He’d been to a wedding a danced with the majority of women there. Oops.

Hysteria redefined. Not one single human being has died from it. Yes it is primarily found in the gay community.
What about saying the truth?
The cdc is needlessly alarming everybody.

Wait let’s go back to quarantine mandates because of monkeypox.
6k cases is minuscule in a population of 300M’s plus.

In one of the cases shared with me the young lady was at a club that was hot and most were sweaty
it is houston in august, and hung out with guys who were touchy feely loved to hug
they were all sweaty too.

@92010Coogs did i say anthing of mandates? Is that your default argument.

That i know of, no one has died. But it is very painful. I am merely trying to share it is not an STI. And it is spread via skin to skin contact, not just sex.

Oh don’t worry. I remember that.

And I’m not suggesting that this is a “gay” disease.

However, it is a disease which is most easily spread, based on what I’ve read, by contact with another person’s semen.

Obviously, someone can also give it to someone else by other means, but that seems to be the most common mode of transmission. And that can, of course, occur during heterosexual activity.

it spreads through prolonged physical contact and fluid transfers. vast majority of cases are among gay men because the colon is soft tissue and tears easily. same reason aids spread so rapidly among gay men and needle drug users.

No, no, no this is not true they will tell you.
Ayyyyve

Where was the dog’s monkeypox located/ Hmmmmm
