I’m from Beaumont, so I can say this.
Lamar has historically been a terrible program, despite being rich with talent, most Golden Triangle kids go FBS or to any FCS school not named Lamar. Lamar also thinks its too good for under the radar Golden Triangle kids and doesn’t have a great relationship with the surrounding high schools.

Yep. If you live in the Golden Triangle and have a chance to experience life outside Southeast Texas, you take it. It’s very very difficult to recruit good players at Westbrook, United, PA, BC, WOS, Nederland, and PNG and convince them to come to the beautiful confines of LU on MLK Dr that is nestled up against the Exxon/Mobile refinery.
