Was just joking with Coog2021 for his comment toward coogfan millionaires lol.
I’m just a broke non-traditional Coog

We hit 4 home runs in the portal last off season in Weigman, Thomas, Connors, and Koziol. If we do that again or some of the younger guys here already step up next season we could win 8-9 games again. I am not saying more because we were really lucky we didn’t see BYU, Utah, K-State, and Iowa St. I know K-State didn’t have a great year but we would have been going there and they are a bad matchup for us even though we somehow beat them at home last year.
We did better than that with additions on the defensive side too. Eddie Walls was great individually, but Fiotu, Laufau, James, Vedder, Brown and Allen were huge contributors
Call me crazy but if I were a player seeing Willie turn a 4-8 B12 team into a 9-3 B12 team in year 2 with one of the biggest bowl games we’ve had in quite some time, I’d be excited as hell for next year. Especially if I’m lucky enough to have a star role on this team.
Make no mistake about it. We are a 9-3 B12 team, Fritz is a winner and we will have legitimate B12 title aspirations and playoff expectations heading into next year. Better opportunities elsewhere is shrinking by the day
Willie Fritz actually has beaten K-State 2 or 3 times in a row going back to his Tulane days. I don’t think coach would mind seeing them on our B12 schedule
Good take…
To balance things out, here are some transfer players that didn’t/haven’t panned out (for various reasons), brought in by CWF:
1. Teagan Wilk DB (ECU)
2. Jesus Machado LB (Tulane)
3. Bryan Massey DB (SMU)
4. Marquis Shoulders WR (Tulsa)
5. Devan Williams WR (Tulsa)
6. JD Rhym DB (Auburn)
Might be missing some more, but these are the ones that come to mind.
Injuries?…
…or looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane?
I know there are other reasons players don’t work out, but those are the first 2 I thought of…
There’s also…
Family Health Issues
Girlfriend Problems
Academic Failure
Poaching
Finding more NIL somewhere else
Legal Problems
Homesick
There’s so many things that can go wrong
They just don’t all work out
So what are the percentages of Weigman coming back next year? 50/50? I get the feeling he will try the pro route. Not necessarily NFL. CFL or Spring? Think he’s had enough of college.
Just curious…. WHY do you think he’s had “enough of college”?
Did he tell you?
Did you hear it somewhere?
Rather than say why I think you’re posting this, I’ll just answer the question.
I put the odds of his coming back somewhere between 90-95%
Why?
Because he’s right where he wants to be (in his own words)
Because he’s good (majority opinion and him taking the Coogs from 4-8 to 9-3)
Because the staff believes in him (they’ve said so)
Because he believes in the staff (Connor has said so)
Because he has another year of eligibility (fact)
…and…
Because he can still improve his draft stock (opinion)
I assume there are counter arguments, but there’s already been a nauseating amount of discussion on this topic (mostly reasons he should go) projecting people’s desires to replace the CW Cadillac with the KH Lamborghini…
Prolly a lil bit of all of the above.
Machado left the team back in October. I don’t think a reason was ever made public.
Yep.
Brought in as an highly-touted transfer that had previously played under Fritz at Tulane.
Not sure why he quit the team. He was expected to contribute as soon as he got here, never saw the field iirc.
With one year under his belt with this offense, players and coaching staff, I think the smart play for Weigman is to return to UH and improve on his numbers. He can get more money elsewhere, but moving to a new team, coaches, and city is a lot to ask of a person and increases his risk of underperformance.
If Weigman is playing for today, he might leave; if he is playing for tomorrow, he should stay at UH.
Take a long look at 2025 Defensive 1st and 2nd teams from
Sunbelt, American, CUSA.
So far under WF they have filled a quality defensive 2 deep.
American skill guys huge 4 UH this season.
Tougher this portal cycle w promoted HCs taking
guys with them.
OL from above G5 usually stink in P4 or get huge SEC $.
P4 for OL surer things probable.
This accurate ?
Early shopping list:
I would like to add the following players with regular recruiting and portal players.
In a press conference, Fritz simply stated “he quit.”
Angelo has had a decent season at OL coming out of G6.
Both from Atascocita
