He said he would, but that’s not an irreversible decision.

Not in ESPN’s top 25 portal classes
 for whatever that’s worth

I’ve also noticed we aren’t ranked that high in the 247 rankings either. But I think with our additions we will have a better team for 2026 and we just won 10 games.

I wonder if the analysis for the portal is flawed because it isn’t just the rankings of the players you are bringing in. Its who are you losing and what holes do you need to fill. It should be looked at more like a pro team who just brought in free agents.

Yeah
I don’t put much stock in this article at all

On3 ranked us much higher this year than 247, which one should we put more stock into? IDK, considering the amount of All-conference talent, with good stats we got On3 would my choice.

I liked Butler this past season and Hughes was a huge pickup. Hopeful Sanford can do what he has flashed if he is back to :100:.

We had two difference-makers this past season in the passing game and one returns. Looking forward to seeing if Trent will be another weapon like Amare. Add in Young and this could look like some of the elite groups we saw with Pardee, Briles and Sumlin.
At TE Koziol was such a dude and about to be a Kiper favorite on draft day. I really like our newest portal addition from UTSA. We won’t match TK but I do think we can add depth with versatility to the position. McGary is an asset who can block and still help in the passing game.
All this is mute against the top Big 12 teams without an improved OL. We came from bad to serviceable last season and optimistic we may be able to call the 2026 line a good one at this time next year.

Next is DEFENSE!

ON3 counts the talent going out, too. Of course teams that have more people leaving need to bring more people in. We didn’t have that issue. That is why we have a top 10 class, according to On3. We replaced the people that left with much better players.

Defensively is tougher to project just like last season. It is tough to predict how some will handle playing tougher schedules. I like the mix of competition brought in at all three levels. The LB I think may improve some and it wasn’t bad last season. Allen was so very good. It can’t be stated enough what a benefit it is to stuff the middle routinely. Walls made a huge jump the second half of the season as a pass rusher but I think we have some players to mix in and experiment with who will provide what we lost. I don’t think the secondary was bad last season but it’s an area I think we need to take another step.

Interesting how these websites evaluate talent.
How can these websites explain that Indiana won the cfp with an “inferior” squad?
Raw talent only means so much. A superior, outstand, HOF HC is going to flourish that raw talent.
In many ways this is similar to the NFL. Some franchises pick the first picks and they do not flourish. Some do not and end up having future HOF.
History has proven to everyone that HCWF makes great decisions. I will take his evaluation every day vs what any of these websites want us to believe.

Bingo !!!

It isnt worth much, since On3 has us ranked 6th

We could have a better team and less wins next year.

That’s possible but I doubt it. Our schedule looks about the same and we will have more talent.

I doubt any teams will be in worse shape than Oklahoma St and Oregon St were this year

I just hope we have older upperclassmen with a body of work and some special talents coming in.

Teams with the #1 draft pick are usually really sorry and often too cheap to pay for talent to surround their #1 draft pick, especially if he’s a QB. See Joe Burrow, how good do you think he would be on a team with a good OL and more receivers than just Chase?

Tee Higgins is a solid WR, too

Bengals problems are oline and defense.
