…also… “who doesn’t like Ice Cream?”
All levity aside, listening to Willie in pressers is an absolute joy. He brought up being a great program, not just a great team. So the reporter asked him… “so aside from winning and losing, what makes a great program?” His answer, and I will paraphrase… “we stay connected to our guys… …they come back after they graduate… …we help ‘em get their first job… …at my last stop, I was there 8 years, and everyone Graduated.” He comes in sweaty, chugging water, and never seems to be caught ‘off guard’ by any question. He is so plugged in and engaged; yet somehow, the ONLY thing he talks about, outside of football, is his wife, Susan, and his Family. Couldn’t ask for a better EXAMPLE for the players. He really studies the opposition and always seems to have a plan to take advantage of the other team’s weaknesses. Anyone with a bias against Willie just needs to listen to him, because he doesn’t make excuses. He owns his words. He doesn’t “talk the talk”. He “walks the walk”….
Agreed. Id given up on listening to Dana’s pressers because I couldn’t stand to listen to him and his coughing. But listening to Fritz actually inspires confidence in me as a fan.
Depends on the city.
For example, if you’re playing A&M on the road, you wouldn’t stay in C-Stat. You would stay in Conroe.
On the other hand, if you were playing Boston College or Pitt on the road, you can easily stay in Boston or Pittsburgh since they have the means for proper hotels since they’re pro sports cities.
Probably easing him back in
Like I said before… if you’re flying into Eugene make sure you have a rental car booked… I’ve flown in there before and not been able to get a rental and had to shuttle to my Mom’s house down the coast.
Also, though, having a rental car “booked” means less than nothing. They’re notably bad about overbooking and expecting some people not to show up, much in the same way airlines and hotels are. I once had to sleep at ATL Airport in the rental car area because I got in at midnight and they had nothing. Had to uber from DC to Harrisburg, PA for the same reason.
He practiced today. Ran the ball at least 15 times that I saw. Has a cast on his right thumb.
I guess, but I don’t see us losing to them. They’ve been blown out in every game but Fresno. Both Oregon and TT could have put 80 on them if they hadn’t put the reserves in for the last half. Their offense can move the ball a little between the 20s but can’t score against a good D. We will win by 4 TDs.
42-14 Coogs
I’ll be 800mg of Ranger candy in by the time we hit halftime at 11pm lol
Going to need a Red Bull
Ranger Candy. Haven’t heard that in a while.
3 more days
The first two Oregon St. home games have drawn 31,630, for California, and 28,068, for Fresno St. I would expect a crowd in the neighborhood of 30,000 for UH.
Friday night TV viewership has been good to us, 3 million eye ball is good PR. Two more Friday night games will only get better if we keep winning.
You couldn’t get a rental in DC? I find that hard to believe…
This wasn’t about one rental car place being closed or overbooking… literally EVERY rental car in Eugene was booked…
Im looking forward to this game for so many reasons. Brother lives in Oregon and had plans to make it out but he is having back surgery and plans have changed unfortunately… Oregon State is going through what the SWC teams went through 30 years ago…This should be a good one
Not at BWI airport, at least. All sold out. And it was roughly midnight when we got in, so all of the non-airport rental places were closed.
