Agreed. Overall, I think Slade does a good job of balancing the offense with the running and passing attack, and utilizing the the TE.
Part of the issue today came down to a few calls trying to pass instead of running the ball. When you have a solid o-line and bruising RB in Mahki Hughes on the 2 yard line, you run the ball. It’s pretty rare to see Hughes brought down on first contact. Why not run the ball? Slade did that twice.
Other than that, we gave up a potential scoring opportunity when Overmyer fumbled the ball near the red zone. That’s not on Slade. It’s just a turnover and another lost scoring opportunity that resulted in 0 points going into half time.
Speaking of which, I prefer taking the 3 points in a low scoring game. We could have very well lost a close one had it not been for a major comeback.
Weigman’s biggest issue at A&M and last year was when he would throw an interception, he’d overcorrect and throw another.
This year, he’s fixed that issue and stopped forcing so many plays. Very accurate passer.
Nagle getting too cute with the play calling at times really being his only issue is a huge step from where we’ve been with our OCs over the last decade.
