When the USS Texas was launched back in 1912, it was the state of the art. When you tour the Texas, and put it in it’s historical context, how can you not be impressed?

probably not a popular thing to admit here but I have never been a “texas” history person so until I started reading about ships in WW2, I didn’t know much about the uss texas. the us submarines in WW2 still get my most respect, they took out 55% of Japanese ships. japan could probably have not been nuked if the usa just let the subs finish off the Japanese navy.

I thought I read somewhere that when it was launched, the Battleship Texas was the most sophisticated creation to that point in the history of mankind.

Just rewatched, Empire Of The Sun.
Top ten in my book and do rewatch it ever 3 to 4 years. My eyes wet up at the end every time.
I am 68 and and grew up in a more personality performance stamped movie than these BS non-stop action movies.
Not sure but think I liked radio mystery shows better then TV today.

Just might have been better drugs .

When we were traveling by car in the 60’s, for overnight stays, my parents would do this with my grandparents to let them know we made it to our destination safely. .
