Random Picture Thread (Part 2)

I bet there were a lot of ticked off people when their windows rattled (or broke) and their homes shook as the sound barrier was booming as it went by.

The first time I heard, and felt, the sonic boom was when I was in junior high; I thought a car ran into our home. They used to have B58 Hustlers fly supersonic from Barksdale Air Force base in Shreveport down to somewhere south of Houston. The complaints made them stop.

Yep, I had several cap guns and I was a card carrying member of the Cisco Kid Club. For 25 cents in coin and a cereal box top I got a “Cisco Kid Club card, Badge and genuine simulated leather wallet with a horse and rider embossed thereon.” The wallet, plastic and paper thin, was to put the card in, I was 6 or 7 and folding money was something I never had. I was lucky to get the quarter. I turned in 13 coke bottles I scrounged up at 2 cents each and got a quarter and a penny.

Mike - I recall riding my bike and collecting empty coke bottles and turning them in at a local (in the Oak Forest area) 7-11 store for 2 cents each. Being one of six kids, I sometimes walked or rode a bike to attend school at St Rose of Lima (near Wakefield Crowbar). What a simpler time.

“Pony Boy” - also a great tune by the Allman Brothers. I wonder if Dickie Betts was inspired by this cap gun?

a house on a neigborhood i drive thru on occasion has their christmas lights on. they are on top of the house so its not blatant and not easily noticeable, but its still october; everyone else around them has halloween decorations. i sent them a letter, told them the HOA would fine them daily if they didn’t turn them off.

Maybe they’re not Christmas lights, but just an expression of everyday joy. Who could take exception to that?

Not there yet. But moving in that direction.

Hit that marker a few years ago, but I don’t use 20 minutes.
