Cougars take early lead with back-to-back home runs in the first inning

With Team USA trailing by three, Jared Triolo launched a two-run homer over the left field wall, scoring Julks and increasing Houston’s lead to 5-0. Lael Lockhart Jr. followed with a solo homer of his own to the same part of left field to give the Cougars a 6-0 lead at the end of one. Triolo knocked in another run for the Cougars in the bottom of the third on an RBI-single that scored Scheiner.
