O’Quinn burned that one. That bridge is loooooong gone.
My ex, who was also a UH alumnus, was in charge of a sizable budget at chevron and I convinced her to throw a few hundred thousand towards UH athletics. UH athletics ignored her so she spent the money on the HLSR and was applauded so much by the president and stakeholders that she bumped up the amount to an over a million the following year. And she never entertained the thought of helping UH again. She left chevron a few years ago but she was the only person who ever considered giving money to UH
If the new guy could manage to just peel off a little of what those oil companies give to the HLSR and the Astros every year, it would make a huge difference.
Agree. We have over 300k alumni.
We are a sleeping giant folks…
If the Russian Army wants to spend $1M and put their logo on the scoreboard then I’m all for it.
(well maybe not, but you get my point–hopefully)
I hadn’t read the article when I posted. Khator says it will take more than alumni and the usual donors to double the budget…creative partnerships with corporations…not sure what she has in mind but let’s see what Nuñez can do. I’ve watched several videos and he is a good speaker…let’s see if he’s a good salesman. He’s certainly being compensated very well and should be highly motivated to perform well.
What’s their criteria for spending that kind of money?
RK is a great prez and she always succeeds on her goals…No doubt she will succeed with raisng our budget, too.
It was at her sole discretion so she wanted to entertain stakeholders that would be in town on visits. I suggested UH football season tickets in a suite to hold one of the visits and then just give out the tickets to chevron employees when the stakeholders weren’t in town. Plus, the president was a huge golfer so I suggested the UH golf team could be sponsored and he and the stakeholders could play rounds of golf with the team.
Instead she got a suite at the HLSR and that organization, as much as I dislike them for using volunteers to boost their profit, runs a world class event with immediate responses and perfect customer service as well as menus of options catered to the customers needs.
The idea of shaving some money off that goes to them and getting it to UH is going to be a hard sell because HLSR knows how to handle organizations that give money.
And we have been a sleeping giant for many, many years
We’ve definitely been sleeping.
Most of our alumi are asleep and really don’t care one way or the other it’s a real shame
95% of our alumni work the night shift. That explains our attendance issues.
Then they can attend day games.
They’re sleeping then. Duh.
RELEASE THE KHATOR!
I have a new coworker who apparently went to UH (she’s maybe in her mid to late 40s) and I recently heard her say she’s an Aggie at heart. She never says hi…it’s always Howdy.
I gagged so hard.
That crap is the worst
Maybe a kid went to A&M? Or she’s just country?
You should report her to HR for creating a hostile work environment.
