Retailers howled about theft last year. Why not now?

Surprised, not surprised.

Yep

How is it spreading lies to quote statistics from the National Retail Federation’s own survey?

The cries ring hollow when you see the statistics and the average rate of shrinkage has bounced around between 1.3% and 1.6% over the last seven years.

The NRF also reported in 2015 that the FY 2014 rate of 1.38% was the lowest in the 24-yr history of the survey. In other words, there’s no devastating trend of increased thefts, it’s all hot air.

The statistics don’t show a major increase in theft. Not saying theft is ok, but the rates are staying the same over the last 30 years.

Thieves gonna thieve, no matter the year.

People are pulling the absolute numbers and showing how much they are going up. The percentages are roughly the same but we are buying far more stuff (which is a good thing for the economy).

It looks shocking until you find the context. That’s pretty typical from some in the media.

Lol

Companies don’t give a crap what people in the community think. Nor should they. If they’re publicly traded then their concern should be in making money to distribute to the SH or move into RE.
If anything, they leave stores open in bad areas too long to avoid the perception capitalization problems.

I remember when crawfish were $2.99 a pound.
