Geez, the kid missed a FG. He was a Lou Groza semifinalist, meaning he was one of the better kickers in the country.
Just my two cents but was money throughout most of the season. Very reliable kicker.
I would much rather have a guy that consistently boots the ball through the uprights 97% of the time with an occasional miss than someone that can’t be counted on from 30 yards out and kicks the occasional winning FG.

My son was a kicker in college, very good, but not nfl level good. So many moving parts but the kicker is always where the blame starts. Mostly justified but very similar to guilty until proven innocent until the whole kicking sequence is analyzed.

Gotta trust the coaching staff on the FG kicker. I do not think they have named a starter and they might still be competing. The coaching staff knows what Sanchez can do. You have kickers that have gone through Spring ball and summer workouts. The best option wins the job.
Am I just imagining it or did Sanchez have an injury for a game or two late in the year? He was money, one of my favorite kickers over the last couple decades. Didn’t have a big leg but he was accurate.

Does participating in rookie minicamp count?
The bigger question is how do you make the numbers work? Asking someone to leave right before fall camp starts would be a terrible look

I don’t know the answer about Johnson, but you can bet that HC Fritz, GM Fritz and WR Coach are discussing and may know the answer.
The decision point is simple. Who makes UH better? Who is a better route runner, blocker, catcher?
Respectfully I think honesty in what you tell recruits is a bigger issue. Especially with no landing spots for who gets knocked off the team.

Are we at the limit? Since this decision was made last minute, maybe they can make roster limit exceptions for those returning to former teams.
