Rice @ #15 UH - 11/12/21 7PM CST ESPN+ (W 79-46)

We are always 1 player away from it being a real issue. In any season.

Do we know if anybody is redshirting?

not stated by the staff yet…

This was a dominant win. Now we’re ready for Virginia and the Maui Invitational

I bought 2 from Go Coogs. Wear it to football games.

That defense - wow! Relentless.

How bad must Pepperdine be in order to get blown out by these Rice clowns?

Student Athletes.

this defense is relentless… weve had some dominant defenses at houston, this has the potential to be the best defenses we’ve ever had
our defense has never looked this good at this point in the season (2nd game of the year)

theres no guard i dont feel comfortable putting on the leading scorer of another team… not confident enough to say that of the bigs just yet, but all of them could get there by seasons end… which is a scary thought

if im honest, the offense not named sasser needs alot of work… a lot of the points we scored was heavily influenced by playing a team with bad defense that is undersized… sassers scoring (and jamal’s passing) are the only thing i felt would translate to playing a legtimate team… but mark is expected to be a big part of our offense so we should probably hold out judging that too hard…

this game also the game i buy into the stock that Jamal can be our PG of te future (on a team capable of leading us to a title)… ill say ive had my doubt, and a strong proponent of bringing in a touted pg to start this offseason…but give shead a decent shot (That he can work on in the offseason) and i see the vision, and davion mitchell type of vision… (but a backup pg still wouldn’t hurt)

edwards was classified as someone to potential replaces grimes production, no offense to edwards but grimes could do alot more… edwards doesnt have a reliable iso game… but glad he is settling into ā€œHisā€ role…defense, rebounding and his shot is slowly getting there

The defensive intensity and rotations were much better from the start of the game. Hofstra had much better looks from where I saw the games.

Just going to say this, that was a special performance. Rarely have I seen defense played at that level. Also amazing we had more rebounds considering we shot the ball about 19 more times.

My takeaways:

  1. I love how loud FC gets even with 60ish percent capacity

  2. After the Hofstra game, Sasser looks like the leader he is called to be

  3. Edwards looked very good, but still trying to get comfortable in his role

  4. Fabian is as dominant as ever elbow and in, and happy to see him willing to shoot the corner 3

  5. The mariachi at halftime should be a standing invitation

We left at 4:48. What was the announced attendance?

I suspect we will not hold another team to 15 in a half this year. I don’t care who the opponent was, that 1st half defense was special. Definitely need Mark back ASAP.

I actually really liked how well we moved the ball around and in and back out. Also saw some great movement off the ball and cuts.Playing defense like we did can take away from the offense but we did pretty well and contributions from all 8 players.

Shead is going to be reallllly good.

Mark getting back will make us that much tougher.

Wonder if Armbrester is red-shirting?

Stat of the night. Rice had more turnovers (20) than made baskets (14).

So what is up with Tramon Mark? I was driving home from the game and started thinking…then I got bad vibes on how Caleb Mills just left the team. I pray Mark isn’t the same situation… does he even have an injury or just pain? Taze was out there playing with a lot of pain.

There is no comparison of Rice to Hofstra…>Hofstra has a team !!!

rice is higher touted that hofstra…

rice is higher ranked kenpom team than hofstra, and rice blew out Pepperdine game 1, who is higher ranked kenpom team than hofstra aswell
