Rice @ #15 UH - 11/12/21 7PM CST ESPN+ (W 79-46)

shoulder pain, waiting for clearance from medical staff… already back to practicing… will be back soon

Thoughts from game:

  • Attendance was decent and student section was great

  • Sasser has taken his game to another level this year

  • Kyler looks like he’s getting comfortable

  • Shead’s defense was insanely good, but he seems to be unsure of himself running point when Sasser isn’t in the game. He was great with Sasser.

  • Fabian looks very skilled and polished as an inside option.

  • The defense swarmed the ball all night. Rice was never comfortable in their offensive sets.

  • Mark is going to be needed when better defensive teams collapse on Sasser. I don’t see anyone outside of Edwards who can score consistently other than Mark

Great win. Can’t wait for Virginia

Clearly there is a lot of BS by “experts” early in the year !!

They need to do a whole lighting redo of Holman and the plazas on both sides of the FC. Whoever designed that lighting was incompetent.

I love Fabian, but he needs to pick up his game. He is a 5th year senior and needs to get after it !!

I think he is a far superior player than he has shown so far…I know it is only 2 games !

That was us bringing it in

6967 according to ESPN. Seems high, but maybe 6000?

That Sasser Shead lineup be cooking!

It was an entertaining and no tension game. If CKS hadn’t called off the dogs, we would have scored a hundred and clamped them down even more.

BTW, the whole newspaper thing is so 1980’s. It even got old back then which is why it faded away.

It might be the competition but Sasser looks a lot quicker and more athletic to me this year.

He’s historically been much more east to West but seems like he is getting downhill more.

Edwards with his workman-like line:

18-6-3

To have two off-shooting nights he sure makes his contribution on the stat line. When he starts getting his shot back he’s gonna be even more dynamic with his numbers.

We don’t announce actual attendance but tickets sold just like every team out there. Between season tickets and students we won’t announce a crowd smaller than 6,500 or so.

Roberts quietly snagged a team high 9 rebounds. Gorham part 2?

He might be a better rebounder than Justin, he’s insane on the boards. His athleticism is crazy.

This team has a crazy number of ingredients. There is no telling what the final dish tastes like but given the Chef’s track record, I think this team is going to be really good by March.

I think the Hofstra game will end up being a huge blessing in disguise. The effort and intensity last night was completely different than against Hofstra. If they keep playing with that level of intensity there is no telling how good this team can be.

Getting enough minutes for all the pieces will be an interesting challenge.

I could not come. I was one day out of surgery and my wife refused to drive me based on what she said was the amount of pain I was suffering. I almost talked her into it saying I could suffer at the game the same amount I was at home. But then the pain pills kicked in an I was out for several hours. Long enough for the game to be over and Cincy and South Florida to be on tv. Cincy might be winnable if we bring our A game and they play like they have been. Not near perfection like early in the season but not holding big leads and having to put teams away in the fourth qurter.

Good for him. He was never going to get to play much and he was on a final four team.

Sasser went back into the lab AGAIN in the off-season. He looks like he’s been hitting the weights too.

Walker, watching, must be thinking, “Damn, these guys hard!”

Yup agreed on Edwards. That’s was my first disappointment bcoz I was wanting Edwards to be better then Grimes. Edwards is a very good utility player jack of all trades master of none. But my biggest disappointment till now is Fabian. I wanted that dominant double double PF guy and that is yet to be seen. I am sure Sampson privately feels the same way.
