Starting QB EJ Warner left to go to be the starter at Fresno State. RB Dean Connors left to be the starter at The University of Houston but the big (size wise) losses were starting LG Chad Lindberg leaving for UNC and starting LT Ethan Onianwa who is now the RT2 at Ohio State. On defense they lost one starter Viper Tyson Flowers to Virginia Tech and CB2 AJ Stephens to Southern University.
The portal giveth:
In the two-deep, nine were added from the portal and the JUCO ranks. Rice added a lot of age but not a ton of FBS snaps.

Rice always plays out of their minds against us. If we come out thinking we will win or a little flat, they could take advantage.

What position is Mike or Star?
Mike is Middle LB.
At my high school, it was Sam (Strongside), Mike (Middle), and Willie (Weakside) for the LBs.
Star appears to be a Nickel back type position.

I had to look up the Star position last week,
Nick Saban invented the āStarā position, a hybrid linebacker/defensive back role, while he was an assistant for the Cleveland Browns under Bill Belichick, and he carried this position into his defenses at Alabama, with the term originating from the āSamā linebacker position. What ever happend to WR Marquis Shoulders?
He transferred in from Tulsa last season with high expectations (having an injury history at Tulsa), but only played limited snaps with us last season due to injuries.
I donāt even see his name listed on the depth chart & as far as I can tell from searching online, he didnāt transfer out or quit the team.
Heālll be the only one there as the game is at Rice.
Heās on the roster online, so it sounds like heās probably still here and just hasnāt made the two-deep. It happens to some guys.
Sometimes they do and sometimes they dont. They didnt play good last year and got beat pretty convincingly. CWF and the team has been watching film since last Friday. From last yearās Davidson team along with film from Riceās first game. Our defense will be ready and i think our offense will take a big step forward. Them beating Louisina Lafayette got our attention, for sure.
