He was either going to carry Wyoming or sink them. Unfortunately for Wyoming and the MWC, he did not play well. Out of the 8 or 9 times I watched Wyoming play this year, that was easily their worst game. They are definitely a much better team than what they displayed. But oh well…if you can’t do it when it counts, then who cares?!

He was certainly a huge Valvano fan/NCS supporter, but in all fairness he was one of the first, if not the first who started pumping Olajuwon as an All-American his freshman year…
Of course, that was not exactly stepping out on a ledge. It was obvious from the get Dream was going to be special.

Not the way I remember it at all. He consistantly said they were going to lose, every round. B4 they played Villanova in regional finals he went on a rant saying that the Coogs had had their little run but now they were gonna see how big time college basketball was played. He said that Pinone (Villanova center) would school Olajuwan and that the Wildcats would send Houston packing. Of course, after the game, the press was asking Pinone if he had become intimidated by all the shots he had seen swatted in his face. Vitale never acknowledged Houston was any good until after the Louisville game (national semifinal)
