RIP Coach Yeoman

I was around 13 or so growing up in a family of Longhorns,(also Cowboys, which is why I am a Packer Fan to this day) and that game was what made me want to be a Cougar, that 2nd quarter killed us, especially when Davis scored late. D ruled the second half as I recall. I would pretend that I was Robert Newhouse whenever we played “prayerball” the rest of the winter.

Coach Yeoman took a program that was everyone’s favorite Homecoming opponent and made it a National powerhouse.

He produced 56 NFL players. On many occasions lead the Nation in Total Offense and Rushing Offense.

In the early ‘80’s DCTF named him “ Professor of Football”.

He will always be that. Our greatest Professor…of Football and of Life.

As fans, we all knew this day was coming, but it’s still a bitter pill to swallow.

Thanks Coach for the dedication, loyalty, vision and hard work to build UH into a national brand.

We send our admiration and love to you as you journey into eternal rest and peace.

When did you work at the Daily Cougar?

Years ago I came to Houston from Victoria where I resided to attend a Spirit of Houston meeting at the Black Labrador. The guest of honor was supposed to be Coach Levine, but he was unable to attend, so they sent Coach Yeoman instead. Instead?! How about forget about everything else! Coach Yeoman is here! He was as gracious as he was humorous. Truly a memorable moment. Happily, I have pictures to prove it!
