Really sad to hear this. All the great players from my youth are slowly passing on. All my condolences to Jerry’s family.

So sad to hear this. He was Guy’s first Wheatley recruits followed by AA Dwight Jones.
On of the top five guard defenders we ever had here

Can you guys that saw him olay give us a more recent UH player comparison that he reminds you of.

Tough to compare players, but I will give it a go. Bonney was a tall PG at 6’4", a complimentary scorer, whose job it was to run the offense, play D, and feed the scorers. The closest comparison of the most recent PG would be DeJon “Deeky” Jarreau, or a little further back, Derrick Daniels. Maybe someone else can think of a comparison.

Hate to see this.

Such wonderful memories of him and those early 70s teams.

Prayers to his family.

My dad often talked about his performance against JSU

Saw him play when I attended UH.

Another elite Guy V. Lewis recruit.

Sad to see so many UH players pass away.

I would agree that Derrick Daniels might be the closest former player to compare him to.

I used to see Jerry at the courthouse from time to time.

He was a very kind man and seemed to be well-liked by his colleagues.

I had a UH program from back in the day where Jerry was on the cover. I mentioned to him I’d like to get him to autograph it and he was happy to, but I never seemed to remember to bring it.

Sad news.
