well i knew lsu wasn’t gonna happen, but it would have been easier to take than texas…now herman has to go to the most hated list…
name orlando to the HC position and let’s keep moving.

NO. Orlando would be Levine all over again.
based on what?
Hire coach Ed Warinner
I look forward to any comments Tillman Fertitta may have.
He already made comments on Twitter.
His comments:
Ok Tillman, you were willing to spend to keep the Herman. Now spend for continuity
Bump up Orlando and throw a ridiculous amount at all the assistants.
Make it so that Herman has a huge bidding war for every assistant
Make him work to build a staff and keep the talented staff we have!!!
Still not convinced at Orlando as a DC let alone HC. Our defense was shredded at times this year and he doesn’t seem to have the demeanor to handle the politics of the HC position. Pass
You really have a beef with him. Comparing him to Levine. Levine was a freaking special teams coach whose previous experience was all at the FCS level.
Todd has 12 years experience as a defensive coordinator at the FBS level and has had top 25 ranked defenses at several schools.
Orlando does not WANT to be a HC…why do some of you continually refuse to strive for something better?? GO AFTER a standing HC!! Go after Holgerson or Leavitt, former HC at South Florida who is doing a great job now as Colorado’s DC…or Montgomery…
I’m sorry but I’ll trust Duarte and Berman saying that Orlando put his hat in the ring over your perception of what you believe Orlando wants.
Orlando can throw his hat in the ring all he wants…we need to hire a successful head coach…We are talking to good HCs…no reason to hire a coordinator…hire a proven, WINNING HC…Holgerson, Montgomery, Leach…we have the money to do it.
No kidding. Just because Orlando would be hired within doesn’t mean he would be another Levine. No merit to that comment.
Unless you are hiring Saban or Meyer, it is always a gamble. Strong was a successful head coach at Louisville and didn’t succeed at Texas. Herman was a successful OC at Ohio State and lost 4 games at Houston. There is no guarantee if you hire a proven head coach those results will translate. There is no guarantee if you hire a coordinator it won’t translate. Orlando and Major deserve a shot to be heard. Maybe they aren’t the right candidate and a proven head coach is the way to go. That is why you interview. That is why you have a search committee. Sumlin, Briles, and Herman were not head coaches prior to Houston. Relax
Every Coach that has a uta background should not be considered. Call it job discrimination? So be it. Applewhite had to know what was going on. By all accounts they were tied at the hip.
That’s correct.
Exactly. I’m not saying we should hire Orlando. I’m saying I am glad Orlando is interested. If Les Miles shows up, of course you take him over Orlando. If Mike Leach is interested, great! If we are looking at hiring some young guy with one good season as head coach, I’d prefer Orlando.
