Pic from my seats in December 2014 vs Miss Valley State, almost halftime…
“I’m So Houston” is another good one
Now if we could just have a Scarlett Red Lo-Lo drive out on to the court real slow to drop of CKS it would be epic ![]()
Amen sir.
The media talks about Curt Cignetti and his turnaround at Indiana. UH has its own turnaround coach in Kelvin Sampson. Both resurrected programs that were dead on arrival (DOA).
Sidenote: My Indiana friends are still jealous of Sampson’s success at UH, since Sampson’s last college job before UH was Indiana. There is the “what could have been at Indiana if we would have kept Sampson.”
Indiana’s loss is UH’s gain. That almost feels too trite. Sampson resurrected a dying program regain its identity and success, and reshaped UH’s basketball brand.
June 27. ![]()
Spirit of Houston has leaned into Houston hip-hop for at least 20 years.
Also, UH library archives houses the DJ Screw collection that was generously donated by his family.
June 27 as a band tune is basically recognized as TSU’s tune - it’s funny just to see the evolution of it
the band never even thought of crossing over until the Grambling game in 2006 - after that they slowly added some elements
Don’t forget the Super Bowl combined halftime with Ocean of Soul in 2004 and the birth of Womp Womp.
Agree! Coach Sampson had a vision and an administration to back him. It’s worked out better than anyone could’ve expected. Our fan base deserves it! Lots of down years!
Womp Womp released the nipple!
Maybe the only time playing in the band has had that effect in history
For me… I’ll take the muscle!
If Georgia Tech can have a Ramblin’ Wreck, we can do this.
Unfortunately Fat Pat passed away
If we had landed the fifth freshman in Koa Peat, I was ready to label the class as the “Slab Five”!!! Would’ve had all freshmen photo shoot with a slab like the pic.
