Come on now, the odds of UH going undefeated the rest of this year are very, very low - regardless of how many points per game we average.
Scoring is the least of our problems. Our defense is a sieve. Can’t recall the last time it’s been this bad.
Coach says he will fix it. He will need to put in serious time with the younglings.
Just gonna throw this out there but we are currently 3rd in NCAA basketball for points against per game at 59.1. The two teams ahead of us are West Virginia and Northern Iowa, neither of whom have played a ranked team (or really even a good team) yet. Duke is right on our tails as is Michigan State and both are very good teams. Our defense is still good.
So far we have played 3 games in December, and are averaging
87 per game.![]()
People talk like they have never seen, or don’t remember seeing, a Sampson team IN DECEMBER. Usually UH looks ‘off’ this time of year because Sampson has 12 guys out there in his rotation. I am far more concerned about who will hit outside shots IN MARCH. IMO we will need at least ONE NEW GUY who can hit from outside consistently. Teams will probably go all in the stop Sharp and slow Uzan down. We need somebody else to make them regret it.
During our first 3 games last December(2024) we averaged
73 per game.
We are substantially increasing our scoring.
We are averaging over 88 per game in December
I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this but in my opinion this team has looked better since the Sakho injury.
I really do hope Sakho proves me wrong on this when he gets healthy and starts to ball out but in his 10+ minutes a game that he was averaging he wasn’t excelling as a scorer, rim protector or rebounder. Going small with McCarty, Walker or Harwell has given us a lot more on the offensive side of the game without losing much elsewhere.
Just my thoughts. More of a compliment to our stretch 4’s than it is a critique on our backup big
We’re 34.3 3P% (162nd). Without Milo’s 25%, we’d be at 37% (~60th)
Unpopular take, but when J’wan was out late last year, we were looking pretty good going small with the additional spacing
Offense looks up but the defense is not up to our accustomed standard.
