So important that Coach Prime was diagnosed, had surgery, it was non-invasive cancer, and plans to return to coaching football. The message to the public is you can resume your normal life after a cancer diagnosis and treatment. If it motivates one person to get an annual physical, Coach Prime has done a public service.

It takes a lot of courage to want to go forward and keep on coaching. Many would have quietly “retired” His two sons are no longer part of the team I believe. Think about. He choose to coach players that he recruited. That in itself is admirable. Instead of taking the high road he kept his “eyes” on his team.
We/I want UH to win but I will pull for you Mr. Sanders.
Back at the end of January of 2024, I was being treated for A-Fib and excess fluid build-up in my pericardial sac around my heart. They did labs on the fluid and found cancerous cells. Then came the colonoscopy and endoscopy. My gastroenterologist called me with the bad news. Esophageal cancer. Then the PET scan and my oncologist told me it was stage 4, as it had spread to my liver and pericardial sac. After 12 rounds of chemo and many more rounds of immunotherapy and targeted therapy, I’m still here and my last PET scan was clear of tumors.
Still have to keep fighting. The crazy thing is, and it’s not uncommon at all, but cancer is often discovered when treating a patient for other symptoms. If not for the A-Fib issue, my cancer might not have been discovered until too late. I’ve never had any esophageal issues or any symptoms from the cancer itself. Although, the treatments and their side effects are no walk in the park, I still feel blessed to be here.
