Shoutout to the fans here that are still rallying behind Coach Fritz

Well - this thread may not end well.

To be clear, I am still in on CWF. This season is a freebie. Every single HC gets one.

Is coach Fritz in the room with us? Why is Steven Seagal on that shirt?

It is amazing to me how much the 1-4 Fritz apologist sound just like the 1-3 Holgerson apologist did.

The instant gratification crowd is getting restless.

Instant? Sir or Ma’am, fans being disappointed in having 1 offensive 1st team TD (with missed xPt I might add) in 4 games and actually looking worse on offense each game isnt what I would call an “instant gratification crowd.”

I cannot for the life of me see how anyone could already be out on Fritz. He inherited a mess, and he’s not one to take shortcuts. I won’t even begin to come to any conclusions until the end of 2025, at the earliest. I think he’s trying to build for the long haul, and isn’t interested in any quick remedies that won’t last. Give the man a chance.

One difference is this time the previous HC did leave the cupboard bare.

I am continuously amazed at the unrealistic expectations of some of our “fans.”

It was a dumpster fire last year. It took a Hail Mary and Baylor just to get to 4-8. Yet some fans here expected instant improvement, despite the fact that our decent players were transferring and his predecessor had said the recruiting ship had sailed for the year.

No expectations from here on out. Hopefully he surprises me.

I think both sides have some truth to them. The cupboard was left remarkably empty by Dana, and we were then gutted by transfers. Fritz is very much inheriting the situation that we thought Dana was in at the start of his tenure, before we knew how much worse it can get. Also, though, getting shut out in two straight games is bad. Like, even the worst teams in FCS usually score in their bodybag games, and it’s not exactly like Cincy is trotting the '85 Bears out there. Even with extremely little talent, this offense’s lack of production is an indictment against the staff that’s coaching them.

I still think Fritz gets at least two years, but sheesh. This season has been much worse than I thought likely, and I didn’t exactly have high hopes.

No need to bail on the guy.

As I said, every new coach gets ONE “freebie” sucky season.

This season was always a throw away year, we lost so much of the returning players, we had to rely heavily on the portal, and Fritz is changing the culture. I will say on paper this is probably the best defense we have had in recent memory and once they figure out the offense, which it did not help that Fritz pushed much of the returning receivers into the portal. I look forward to next season because it cannot get worse.

If our NIL was top 30% in P4, it would be easier to fix. I don’t think we’re top 60%.
Expecting things to work the way they did even four years ago is literally insane. NIL has changed college football that much.
If we can’t hold on to the top players on this years bad team (I am not saying we will keep them but in the event we don’t), then I’m not sure we will see a huge leap next year.
If we develop players we recruited from HS that excel, we need to be able to hold onto them. If we can’t afford them, we are rebuilding every year.

I’m still behind CWF as I was behind CDH until the end. What I’m frustrating and voicing is the fact that just like CDH, CWF has no made adjustments when the on the field product has clearly not worked out.

One of the most frustrating things about CDH was that he came here with a new and quite similar offense to what CWF is trying to run now, and when it wasn’t working, refused to change back to air raid.

When CDH was down games 21-0 at the half somehow miraculously we’d trot out a more air raid approach and tie the game up only to lose.

All I’m asking is for there to be accountability and adjustments from this new staff much quicker than the old staff did (if at all).

I can tolerate the losing if it’s clear we’re progressing. Right now we are very much regressing and it seems like it’s clear to everyone except CWF based on his lack of action.
