Looking at the recruiting class rankings Big 12 didn’t do well at all. TCU has the highest ranked class at 23rd.

The next highest ranked Big 12 class is Baylor at 34.

Tech had the highest ranked Big 12 class last year at 23. This year they are at 47, although they signed only 17. I guess they’ll be hitting the portal big time.

UH is a bit disappointing, I was hoping UH would be in the top 30, even with 20 signees we’re at 48. I suppose for a 1st year coach that’s not too bad, hopefully he can fill some gaps with quality from the portal.

Colorado surprised me. Deion signed only 14. Guess CU will be hitting the portal big time as well.

I realize recruiting against SEC/B1G and the top 3-4 ACC schools is an uphill battle, but it would be great to see at least 2-3 Big 12 schools consistently recruiting in the 15-20 ranking. You need this kind of consistency to build depth and be competetive at the national level.

Techs class last year was rated high because they got a 5 star in Micah Hudson. Wonder how that class ranks now that he’s gone. I reckon it would fall into the late 20s to mid 30s range.

The current rankings and last years means the conference will be very competetive internally, but if it wants to go deep in the playoffs the recruiting and portal gets have to be really stepped up.

Hudson is still at Tech, though it’s TBD whether he stays - might depend on their OC hire to some extent.

Interesting. Maybe Micah isn’t the talent everyone thought he was. Or he’s not a good team guy!

I believe Texas has a true freshman starting at WR this year. At least that’s what I think the announcers said sometime during the A&M game. So true freshmen WR can start.

I think Hudson was injured a couple of times this year, and the guys in front of him were really productive, so he had a hard time breaking through.

Signing Day recruiting rankings are important, but they’re only part of the story now. It’s probably harder to keep a class than it is to get it signed.

How can you be disappointed at the 48th rated class in essentially the first real recruiting class for CWF? All 3’s and a few 4’s (depending on who you look at) and not losing anyone important (yet) with an inexperienced OLine coming back with a season’s experience, and ANY OC is better than what we had.

I don’t have to invent them…… the portal and NIL invent them for me.

National signing day should be called…,

The market is open boys !!

Like I said, not unexpected for a 1st year coach. I hope you are right about the OL improving with a new OC.

As long as the quality of recruiting classes continues to improve year over year, that’s what matters. Let’s see how he does next year. I would have felt a lot better if we’d landed a top 30-35 class this year, and hopefully a top top 20-25 class next year. Here’s hoping.

What this 48th? We were 39th last week and we lose ONE guy we had and drop 10 spots??? Cmon! Here we go again.

Not sure I agree completely that keeping a class together is hard. The big name programs so far have only lost players who generally have not been able to break the 2 deep.

I think the coaches at those schools basically encourage players like that to transfer out. That leaves spots open to bring in new recruits or a more talented player from the portal. Usually the more talented players is from a smaller school and aee looking for a nice NIL deal.

How may 2 deep players or difference makers have you seen Bama or tOSU lose to the portal? If anything schools like these have been able to bring in players from the portal to give be them some depth. And mostly the players they bring in are from smaller brand schools.

A top 30-35 class after a 4-8 year is not probably. We should have been in the 60-70’s.

Decent start to CWF & Staff having full year to recruit. Could have even been better. Still time.

Hudson is part of Patrick Mahomes “Team Mahomes NIL Class”. Six TT athletes serve as brand ambassadors for Mahomes signature Adidas brand. As part of their NIL, they will appear in ad campaigns for Mahomes’ Adidas line.

I would be surprised if Mahomes didn’t talk to Hudson and try and get him to reconsider. It would be a bad look for Mahomes to have one of his brand ambassadors transfer.

Got to give kudos to those recruits who honored their verbal to UH by signing today. Over the past 7 days, UH has had a lot of negative press: OC fired, loss to BYU, DC leaves for Texas Tech. These young men tuned out the negativity and became UH’s hope for the future. This UH alumni thanks you.

Considering the season we had, keeping this class was huge. This outcome should not disappoint anyone.

Well a 60s-70s class wouldn’t be too good for the HC job security.

What record do you think it would take to get to top 30-35 class?

Regardless the gap between SEC/B1G recruiting and Big 12 recruiting is matter or concern. When the best class in the Big 12 has 12 SEC, 7 B1G, ND, and 2 ACC schools ahead of it, it does not bode well.

Oh I didn’t know that.

Over on the redraiders247 board theyre saying that the rumor on campus is that Hudson is asking for $6M NIL deal.

And then there’s this tweet.
