Maybe it’s just me being old fashioned, but If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Were people complaining about multiple threads before all the merging began?
Yes. Folks generally took a sarcastic tone with their complaints, but it sincerely was extremely annoying, especially because folks loved posting threads that were basically tweets with clickbait subject lines that didn’t actually say what the dadgum post was about.

I like individual threads for a single recruit.
The all encompassing threads are long and seem to wander. I’d prefer specific threads that interest me.
Would you rather have a few people be ‘annoyed’ for the few seconds they click a topic or see a ‘duplicate’ or would you rather have more people unable to even follow in a coherent way many of the topics related to UH sports on the main fan message board on the internet? One leads to annoyance of a few and one leads to an inability of many to be a fully engaged UH sports fan on a message board in a maximally meaningful way.
For example I used to easily see who commits in football now it is much more difficult to even see who commits much less get into any kind of more intricate UH sports discussion.
Might I propose a thought experiment: imagine if you lived in Houston and got your ears perked up to UH during this deep tournament run. You watch the Natty, are impressed and are on the precipice of kind of jumping on the bandwagon with your attention and fandom and then shortly after you see on social media/Chron that TA is transferring. Your are slightly invested emotionally now so you google UH message board and come across coogfans. You get on and see a basketball forum - straight forward enough. But you see no TA topic. You are confused. It doesn’t look like there are too many new topics so you question that maybe this isn’t even their primary message board but you do notice there is a ‘transfer portal’ topic that could apply that looks like it has 3000 posts. Maybe you click, maybe you don’t because you came to read about TA leaving for 5-10 min and not the history of UH basketball for the next 2 hours. After all everyone’s time is fragmented and distracted these days. If you click, you scroll for a few seconds and wonder what you are looking at and where the TA discussion is in an easy to consume way. It’s not there. You almost certainly close coogfans and probably never come back.
In an alternate coogfans timeline you get on the basketball forum and see 3 topics about TA leaving. One has like 3 comments but doesn’t seem to be a lively discussion, one has a 2 comments that someone comments ‘duplicate, already posted bro’. You filter through those in 10 seconds. The third has 35 comments that you read through in less than 10 min to understand what is going on. Your fandom is ever so slightly solidified. Easy in easy out.
But that guy that got annoyed and proclaimed DUPLICATE must be appeased. The travesty of duplication and annoyance must be corrected at all costs! All costs!
19 threads on the basketball board have been active in the last 24 hours. If you think that is barren, ok. There’s a thread on starting five and rotation, there’s a thread on 2025-26 roster, there’s a thread on the transfer portal. Should there be a thread on UH transfer portal moves? Maybe there should be. As I said last night, we are open to ideas. As far as I know, we only closed one TA thread and it was posted 24 hours after Arceneaux made the announcement.
Should there be 30 threads about the Florida game? No.
Agree Completely. If a transfer comes in to UH there should be a Welcome Thread. Sorting through thousands of messages hurts the efficiency of the board.
I would prefer all threads from every board be merged into one giant thread. I mean every topic in every sport. It can be like one giant stream of consciousness of anything all at once.
I recommend Laizzere Faire message boards.(spelling?)
Do nothing. Let all threads be posted. By using the scroll bar on the right of each thread one can quickly scan thru anything. I do it all the time. I skip threads all the time.
No biggie. This is a cure looking for an illness. Nothing is sick.
Occasionally, I’m miss a day or two checking out Coogfans. I always find it interesting to read thru 2 or 3 thousand comments to find out what is going on. I’ve got nothing else to do so . . . . . merge them all together, like kelseym said . . . . .
We don’t need no stinking multiple threads! Just have one all encompassing thread for all sports, the satellite, and any other subtopic. Why make it easy to find stuff you are interested in? After all that extra thread costs a ton.
