SMU

It’s too expensive now if you can believe it.

So I guess it is gentrifying

Here’s what gets to me. At one point, we were the face of G5 schools with an electrifying creative offense that could score on anyone including P5 schools, at the time. We went through a series of coaching changes only to regress to a bottom-dweller since going to the Peach bowl.

Fast-forward from 2016 to now. Not only do I not recognize anything close to what resembles an exciting offense, but we can’t even manage to score a one damn TD, ONE, on our opponents.

Meanwhile, a school like SMU goes out and hires Sonny Dykes to rejuvenate their program. They continue with success and now apparently look better than ever with an electrifying offense that can score on just about anyone. Maybe they drop a few games but scoring points isn’t an issue, especially with their athletic new QB that can pass and run who looks like a bigger version of Greg Ward.

Honestly, it makes me sick to my stomach to watch how far we’ve fallen. I want to believe so badly that Fritz can rejuvenate the program, but I’m starting to question whether he can bring back the excitement to cougar football. I question whether he can do it in a short period of time with an apathetic fan base that has no patience whatsoever for a complete rebuild.

And as much as I was fine with the frit tire, I really wanted an up-and-coming coach and the mold of Odom at UNLV. They inject immediate excitement into the program for Cougar faithful that don’t have the patience for a rebuild.

I wonder if Smoo will be so happy when girls softball plays on the East Coast at night on a Wednesday

If they are succeeding in football, the folks who call the shots will be happy.
