Just like Robertson when I was a student… all you had to do was show an ID and you got in…
I had buddies that had graduated 5 years before me flashing their old IDs and getting in… ![]()

Wow!!! I didn’t realize this… so stoopid!!!
Anything UH can do to attract and keep student fans will help establish a larger future fan base and is a plus.
On the talk of students packing the stadium…
As far as I know, the record turnout for students was vs Rice in 2024. Above 7k. I’m pretty sure it got broken during the home opener vs SFA in the 2025 season.
I thought that last year for the first game, they kept opening up more tix for students and it got to over 9K.
I was proud of the student turnout last year. They really brought it. They created excitement. Opening up more seating for students is a smart move.
Starting the season on a Thursday night last season really energized them.
Yup, they kept going. The SFA game is the highest student turnout so far.
Y’all were mad about it being on a Thursday night. I was like are y’all kidding??? First week of school Thursday night game where everyone is literally on campus without obligations??? They want some taste of the college experience??? SIGN THEM UP
And what did that add to the crowd when layer games were at 11? Nothing.
If yiu want to throw the students a bone for a game, that’s one thing. But you lost just as many regular fans for that game that you might have gained in student attendance.
As a season ticket holder and long-time donor who lives several hours away, scheduling games during the week so that people who are already on campus have it easier to pick up free tickets only to never return does not resonate.
After losing 3 reasonably good HC’s, student interest seemed to drop off. Now that the team is winning again, hopefully student interest will increase, and also hope they will stay past half time. Also, even though I manage to sit thru the sunburn of early games, my SO either skips the game or stands under the upper deck, North side. It’s hot in the stands, even if it is 11 AM, and the later, the worse it gets until after about 7 PM.
True, but it at least gives them that taste when they first arrive. “Hey, here’s what the experience is like, come back anytime!”.
The 11am game was a total boof. Yes, there have been other 11am games that had good interest, but the worst 11am games I’ve seen were Halloweekends. I honestly wanted to do research on 11am games across the country to see what attendance was like last season.
2022’s USF game and 2025’s WVU game were very similar vibes in terms of the post-Halloween party games. Attendance sucked and nobody cared to be around. The Arizona game, even at 11am (if I remember), was an even better vibe, even with the lack of attendance.
Down low, the dividing line is the 15 yd line. 15 and below, 132, 15 and above, 231.
I keep seeing stuff like this posted on this forum and others like there is some correlation in athletic department/season tickets and media controlled TV time slots.
UH does not pick their time for TV - that is from the media companies.
Well, you’re wrong about the first game. Our AD absolutely picked the game date and time, and there are interviews where he talks about why he did it.
Maybe you’re “seeing stuff” about that game because it’s true.
Got any link to where he said that? I’m not finding it.
Nope. It was in a couple of interviews last year that I’m not going to spend time digging up. It was discussed extensively here, both before and after that interview.
I remember that Nunez interview. The gist was UH did not want to compete with Labor Day weekend, with a lot of fans out-of-town. It made perfect sense, given UH’s fan base.
Oh, yall were talking about last year’s schedule and not this year?
He was letting us all know that playing at 11am the first saturday of September is far superior than a Thursday night.
I would be shocked if we can get more than 25k to this game.
Yes!
