This season has proven how many premature evaluators we have on this board, as it relates to DC AA. Posts were being critical before he coached his first game. Most posters though were more reasonable, and waited until he began coaching games.

Former hotshot assistant coach Doug Belk was the next up-and-comer. He was coach of Coach Holgorsen’s best season at UH. Had an endorsement from Nick Saban. His last season at UH, he got booed out of town.

The point of the matter, as far as fans are concerned, is you are only as good as your last game.

Oscar Giles and the assistant coaches are the reason this defense hasn’t diminished from last season. They don’t get recognized for obvious reasons.

Giles’ unit has been consistently stout going back to Herman years.

iirc Belk was pleasantly surprised that Dana would “clock out” at 5pm & had assistants do the same.

A stark contrast to the grueling hrs he’d be expected to put in under Nick Saban as an Assistant Coach in Alabama.

So i can imagine Belk is comfy staying in the background in a big brand, P2 program where not much is expected of him.
