And like I posted before. You’re telling me this man hasn’t gained 1 pound since arriving at campus UH after years ago with our strength & conditioning program you’re nuts & petty with that “toothpick” comment. @UHCoog
I just checked the website and he is 165, so that’s a little bit better. He is still really skinny. But “Petty?” I’m pretty sure I’m not being “petty”. I want him to do well as a Coog fan. We’ll see.
Im not saying size isn’t an issue for his draft status. I’m saying that he has a SR QB with chemistry throwing him the ball this year who connected with him 112 times. We’ll be breaking in a new, yet to be identified, QB next year; potentially some new coaches; and competing against stronger competition in a new conference. It’s going to be a rocky offseason and a tough 2023 for UH football. I don’t think Dell’s stock gets any higher than it is right now regardless of what his options are at the next level. And, if being small makes you that injury prone, then he’s risking injury by playing in a garbage bowl game in a failed season.
His size will definitely be held against him. Some things about his game are 1st or 2nd round level but the NFL has a huge player pool to choose from and honestly he will not even be on some team’s draft boards due to his size and perceived likelihood of injury from his size. I bet he runs low 4.5s or high 4.4s. With that said I believe someone will see what most of us see in his game and take him with a mid round pick and see if he can win the slot and/or returner job on their team.
True. His stock will never be higher. How old is he now… 22 ?! Needs to go after putting back to back great numbers at UH. I don’t know what his 40 going to be but at his weight i think he no doubt hits 4.4.
Put yourself in his shoes. The nfl is always in need of slot receivers. What has impressed me the most with Tank is his timing and running routes. Quick is one think good decision making is another. IMO he will be a late round but will get drafted. Besides earning his degree IMO he has nothing to gain staying another year with all of the adjustments coming.
I don’t blame him a bit on that. I don’t know what more he can prove in college that will get him drafted any higher. He proved he has play-on-Sunday speed and route running ability, and a year of Big 12 ball or portaling out to the SEC isn’t going to get him a couple inches of height. He is what he is and there’s far worse things to be than a 3rd or 4th rounder in the draft.
Exactly. DeVonta Smith, Heisman winner, was about the same size and was a top 10 pick.
Not saying Dell will be a top 10 pick or even a first rounder, but there are spots out there for smaller guys who have speed and can catch. Teams still use slot receivers (remember Edelman and Welker?).
The key is to get in a situation where the HC/OC knows what he is doing. Obviously he cannot pick his team, but if he can find a way on to the Eagles, Chiefs or Dolphins, he may be in good shape.
Smart move would be portal go to highest bidder. Better money than 5th round. If SEC and has a good year could move to 3rd rnd next year and collect 2 years of 3rd rnd money
Yeah crazy but that is kind of a thing now. Imagine hungry school like Auburn or Tennessee (trying to get that last piece of the puzzle). He could go somewhere and get a couple hundred Gs in hopes that he adds a bit of weight and moves up a round or 2. It is a bet on himself. If I were him - I’d just go to the NFL not sure his big “disadvantage” is really going to change in a year - he will still be small. Last thing he needs is to get some concussions or serious injury playing another college season at his size. Go get that NFL $.
