I am still contemplating. Stay tuned!

Grayfox, I live in Flagstaff Arizona and that puts me around 8 hours or so away. I am considering as well.

I’ll be there!

My wife is a Tech grad so we are probably going.

Your four hours closer than me here in Katy, Texas.

You can get there in 7.5 hours from Katy. 8 hours is easy.

I’m going. First time to Lubbock.

We are going from San Antonio

I’ve been to Lubbock - are there any redeeming qualities in Lubbock that would make it a place to stop after 20 years? I’d say NO, however watching the COOGS beat TT would be worth it.

Seriously, I remember a grain elevator being the largest most noticeable structure in Lubbock.

I haven’t driven to Lubbock in many years and after looking at google maps, I see you are correct. I know Highway 6 by-passes many of the small towns now, but I didn’t think it would make such a huge difference.

Chances of me going to the game just went up significantly.

I would say the best thing about Lubbock Texas is being close to the roots of:

  1. Waylon Jennings (close enough to Lubbock)
  2. Buddy Holly
  3. Mac Davis - YouTube

It’s really not that bad of a drive - I kind of enjoy it when the traffic is light. I take 6 up to Hearne, then cut across to Temple and pick up 36, and follow that up to Abilene. Lots of time to savor a win on the way back. :slightly_smiling_face:
