Texas AD says expansion in 3 years

Lololololo

How did we end up on probation?
How did we end up in C-USA then AAC?
What just happened a few months ago after it was supposed to be "A done deal?"
We all know that uta is driving the small12. U of H and SMU are uta’s worst nightmare. That is plain and simple.
uta can’t compete with us in the same conference and maybe even in another P5. We have the “geographical” talent.
The atm exit I believe will play in our favor. Another conference will get us in order to improve their footprint and their long term portfolio. Ignoring the Houston area market will no longer work.
The PAC12 is not happy with their contract and Schools are having a hard time with their finances. Keep in mind that tuition and tax revenues are a huge PAC problem. Something has to give.
We gotta keep improving on all fronts. We built it
they will come calling.

How is a team like Kansas in a P5 conference. I know their basketball team is good, but that football program is awful.

Point #1 is the perfect reason for the SEC to eventually wake up and extend an invitation to UH. And, if they also include OU, they would gain significant interest in the Dallas area, while letting Missouri move to the western half of their enlarged conference, where they belong.

Point #2 explains why the PAC will eventually have to expand, and the perfect direction for that expansion is into the Mid-west when the Little-12 collapses; UH and the Houston TV market would be their ultimate prize!

And, the best part of either scenario is that uta would almost certainly be independent or in some other conference - perhaps in the ACC, similar to Notre Dame! They would probably turn up their noses at the SEC simply because they think they are superior to them academically; and the PAC will probably ignore them because they already offered them admission once - and were turned down.

We’ve been on probation since 1994 when the BCS was created. The UT AD’s comments I’m sure don’t include us. Our best shot is ACC or PAC12 IF either decides to expand

please do not think that the Big 12 is expanding
they arent
whorn and okie are merely playing out the string with their GOR and will move to much greener pastures. The next move will be by BIG or PAC, or both in concert with the other

UT and OU will head to the B1G West to strengthen that division and renew the series vs Nebraska which will draw viewers. The B1G payout is substantial and with contract negotiations for the B1G around the same time the Big 12 GOR expires, could lead to even more money. Imagine a B1G title game consisting of OU vs Ohio State or UT vs Michigan, networks dream of match ups like that.

Expect KU and Oklahoma State to the SEC West to help strengthen basketball for the SEC. You get an SEC West that consists of KU, Mizzou, A&M, LSU, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. The SEC gets KU vs Mizzou rivalry game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. KU gets access to Texas, Louisiana and Florida players which helps strengthen their football program. The SEC gets a possible KU vs UK basketball title game.

The ACC will add Notre Dame as a full member along with either Cincinnati or West Virginia. My guess is Cincinnati. Adding ND and Cincinnati gives the ACC viewership in the Midwest.

So far this has 3 conferences at 16 members each. Leaving the Big 12 and Pac-12. Big 12 with its 6 remaining members will try to expand to save the conference. They will expand by 6 to solidify the conference. Expansion candidates being UH (Houston Market), SMU(help lock down the DFW market along with TCU), BYU(large national following), UTSA(San Antonio Market), Memphis(Memphis Market), and Colorado State (Denver Market). But those schools will probably decline since they believe the Big 12 is not sustainable.

This leaves the Pac-12 as the only option for expansion. They’ll head east for better game time slots. They’ll aim for UH, Texas Tech, Iowa State and Kansas State to bring the conference up to 16. With NBC losing Notre Dame to the ACC, expect a possible deal between NBC and the Pac-16.

Sad as it is, we would jump at the chance to play in the Big 12 whether whorn or OU are in it or not

Real world: Coogs st Memphis in about half an hour.

uta “Drives” the small12 bus. Without uta the small12 does not exist and won’t be a P5 anymore.

20, that is sound reasoning and a scenario likely to happen in say, 5 years
After BIG makes their move, PAC will respond and i am highly optimistic they will take Houston and 3 Big 12 state schools with qualifying academics
The ones you mentioned ALL qualify academically and seem quite likely
imagine the BIG and the PAC carving up Texas as a territory

This is the footprint of the Central Texas Chicken

This. Can’t believe that SEC would be OU’s first choice, but recognize they can go anywhere they desire and SEC would want them (w/o OkieLight). Agros sew up DFW and UH sews up greate Houston area. It’s so logical it will probably not happen.
