Very possible.
Fair or not fair, I believe they are 5 of the top 12 teams in the country.
And that would be leaving out a really good Vanderbilt teamâŠ
Add Ohio State, Indiana, OregonâŠ
âŠMiami, Notre Dame, and the top G5âŠ.
âŠand it leaves room for 1 Big12 team. The winner between Texas Tech and BYU.
Not saying I like it, AT ALL. Just agreeing that itâs definitely a possibilityâŠ
If (God willing) BYU beats Tech, I doubt the Red Raiders fall out of the playoff.
I donât think their SOS would be better than the 5 SEC teams mentioned.
Ole Miss should not get in without Lane⊠I know that sucks for the players but the same rule should be applied like it was to FSU when Jordan Travis was injured in 2023âŠ
NO they wontâŠThere are 5 SEC teams that will go ahead of them. 6 if you count aggie, which i dont like to do. No way 9-3 Texas makes a 12 team playoffâŠ
I completely enjoy not caring one wit as long as two things are qualified:
BYU beats Tech
Texas doesnât get in
That would be a nice consolation prize.
Note: If Texas doesnât get in, Tech gets beat by BYU, and ATM loses their first game do we roll someone by the station for a welfare check on Matt Thomas and the cabana boy?
Really, I donât really care who getâs in or gets left out since we arenât getting in. Iâm just waiting to see which bowl we go to and who we will play once we get there. Other than that, Iâll just watch games with no rooting interest other than I will pull for all B12 teams. Yes, even TT.
TT is in the playoffs even with a loss to BYU. No way they will drop below ND. All the pundits say ND and/or Alabama will be out. If Bama loses to Georgia, thatâs three loses and then theyâll start looking at the head-to-head with Miami. Then Miami may jump BYU and take NDâs spot. However, if BYU wins, two Big 12 teams are in. They canât keep out a Power 4 Champion and the the current #4 team in the country⊠They wonât fall past 8/9.
The committee bumped Alabama to #9 in front of ND, in most recent ranking. Even if Georgia beats Alabama, Alabama is still in, and UT still out.
Just curious why so many want the Texas Bowl?
Obviously Iâm wrong, but I would have assumed a bowl game in your hometown is not ideal.
If i had to guess id assume itâs because you could play a quality SEC opponent and have a possible crowd bump?
Or is there other factors? No shade, genuinely curious.
Because Iâm lazy and frugal, sir.
I agree. That alone is enough to root for BYU imo.
But obviously, thereâs other valid reasons lol.
Im hoping Houston gets the Alamo bowl vs USC
i personally hope UH doesnât receive a Texas bowl invite. the players earned a trip to somewhere, not 5 miles down the road
If byu loses I think BYU and a Houston will be the two highest teams with big 12 ties. BYU went Alamo bowl last year, but they may want BYU Utah or a BYU USC game. That would leave the pop tart bowl for the taking
Florida on December 27, i can think of alot worse places to be.
Itâs a nice drive. Theyâve done a lot with the landscaping on Kirby
Ppl sleeping on the PopTarts Bowl in this thread.
