Texas leads in toxic discharges

Analysis shows 16.7 million pounds of substances were released into state’s waterways in 2020.

In a new report by Environment America, a Denver-based nonprofit, Texas ranks first among U.S. states for toxic discharges into streams, rivers and lakes.

Look at all those refineries on the list. Sure, EV’s are bigger polluters, not.


Tremendous amounts of produced formation water are dumped daily into the Gulf of Mexico by offshore operators, but due to their technology, the water is much cleaner and purer than the Gulf itself. I wonder how that plays in to the total number in that report. We’ve all learned not to trust any report.
