Strong is toast.
Oh my. You can’t win with 6 turnovers.
texas throws pick in overtime.
He’s toast now … INT in OT
And that’s the end of Strong, Now cue more endless Herman to tu talk.
Bye bye Charlie
Well, I guess we’ll see how obstinate Fenves can be.
Both he and Perrin have resisted the $$$donors$$$ and their whims but this loss against a team that hasn’t beaten a FBS school in two years will only force them to let go a failed HC who could recruit but couldn’t coach at premier P5 $$university$$.
My guess is they won’t go for the obvious … there are a LOT of good candidates besides Herman … Washington’s Peterson … USC’s Clay Helton … Tulsa’s Montgomery … PennSt’s Franklin … Nebraska’s Mike Riley … CTH is NOT alone and both Fenves and Perrin know this.
Yep, NFL guys too…Chip Kelly and Kyle Shanahan might both be interested.
They’ll make a run at Saban, offer him the world. After that, Urban Myer then maybe Jimbo Fisher. On general principal they won’t go after Herman until super last.
They should recruit Houston - get some talent and go to a conference thats a step down so they can win!
Texas knows it needs to replace Charlie Strong with Tom Herman — now
Agreed. Fenves is a very deliberate person. He takes a while to make a decision, then will run it by McRaven, who’s also deliberate. They will not make a run at a single coach. I suspect, as cautious men, they will want a proven winner at a “Texas level” school as their first choice. They’ll also be looking for someone who can deal with UT’s difficult bunch of boosters. All that being said, while I don’t believe Herman will be number one on their list, he will be on their short list.
The real question is this - As big a control freak as Herman is, can he work under the difficult conditions he would find at either UT or LSU? I don’t know. There’s no question the money will be great, but so will the pressure, the outside interference, and the outside requests on his time. The one thing Herman is not is a politician.
I think there was more than just a passing comment having been made when Mack Brown told Herman the grass is not always greener on the other side. I’ve always interpreted that comment as more of a warning to Herman.
An ANOTHER interesting fact of this jayhawk win …
Guess who was the horn HC when Kansas last beat Texas …
DX Bible …
Yepp its been 78 years since Kansas had a win over the horns … 1938 …
Well at least Charlie Tuna will be remembered for A LOT of things … all infamous and bad and hopefully NEVER visited again by the orangebloods …
