The misconception with this article is that these coaches were dealt a bad hand after moving on from UH. Laughably, Tom Herman and Kevin Sumlin knew exactly what they were doing and are now swimming in gazillions of cash.
They came here with carefully logically calculated plans. Assemble successful coaching staffs, introduce themselves to HS coaches around the city, establish recruiting bases in rich Houston, raise their profile , move on to filthy rich UT and A&M, cash that check. Check, check, and check.
Even Dana, had he been monstrously successful with a NY6 win in his first two seasons here would have left in a jiffy. Cash is king ( pun intended)
The article doesnt state that at all. It mentions nothing about being dealt any hand at all and only concludes that they ended up failures as coaches.
Your speculation on CDH has no basis of fact.
