The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

3.0 yards per rush is not controlling the clock. They threw 28 times. Most of the passes traveled laterally.

Smith didn’t under perform lol

I just don’t think Smith is the best QB on our roster. Like I said before, he’s a good person and a good leader, I just believe that our QB3 is better at this point.

The Bucket is coming home where it belongs.

That’s why it is so frustrating. Fritz is into personalities first and balling second. Smith is a likable guy who looks the part.

I will add this to the conversation… What is the point of running an RPO if your QB always hands the ball off to the RB and never keeps it?!? You have to keep the opposing defense honest to respect the possibility of the sneak.

Are we trying really trying to run an RPO offense with QB1? That explains a lot.

The brain cells play a huge factor in decisions. You can call whatever play you want. CJ Stroud completed a pass on his knees after a slip. Smith is just not good. He played not to lose, that is why his completed passes anybody could make.

I keep saying this but for some reason people keep salivating over ā€œhe was 24/28!ā€

I’m starting to feel like Smith could go 25/25 with 350 yards, 4 TDs, and 0 Int’s and people would still hate on him.

300 of those yards would be after the catch. If he was to ever put up 25/25 stat, nobody would need to watch film on how he did that.

Because he did not throw a pick 6 or completed dismantle the lateral passes. Donovan bar is set low.

His stats at OK were great except he couldn’t score and we lost the game.

Well, he can go for that.

Problem is, he can’t do it consistently.

Which is why people hate on him.

It’s the CoogFans specialty.

Sometimes QBs get to much blame and credit. WRs can make a QB look better or worse than they are and without blocking and a run game options are limited. Sometimes you just have to blame the TEAM.

Now let’s move on to the GOOD after our Rice win.

The Bayou Bucket is looking worn and ragged. I’m surprised UH and Rice haven’t gotten together with a newer design and construction of a trophy that’s more befitting of the rivalry.

It’s a bucket. At least they bronzed it. :man_shrugging:t3:

Smith’s performance after 3 games has been average. Smith really benefits from ā€œlooking the partā€ with his 6’5", 235 lbs frame. His NIL deals are commiserate with a QB1. Fritz will stay with Smith as starter until his performance requires a change.
