The Indiana Bears?

Much prefer they buy acreage from Hines and build it in Hockley, smack dab on Bud Adams old ranch

I’m rarely right about this kind of thing, but I don’t think the Bears are leaving Illinois.

They can move to an Illinois suburb and face little blowback.

But moving to Indiana or Wisconsin is not going to sit well, regardless of how close or far they are. I think this is a leverage play. JMHO.

I’m guessing as a lifelong Bears fan, but my guesses on these kinds of things aren’t very often right.

As someone who’s been following this since they started putting feelers out, they faced quite a lot of blowback when they proposed a move to Arlington Heights, too. It is a big deal to Bears fans that the Chicago Bears play in Chicago, in a way that a Texans move to Bridgeport or Katy or whatever probably wouldn’t be.

Honestly, if I were a Chicagoan, I’d prefer a move to a place that’s nominally in a different state, assuming it didn’t make a difference in distance. That way my tax dollars wouldn’t be paying for it.

What is it so hard to understand that the nfl does not give a f…k about the fans?
The nfl clearly does not and despise every single nfl fan. You know why I write this?
Not one single franchise except one, the Packers has signed a pledge that they will stay forever in the City where they are in.
The nfl wants two things from us fans. Our money and STFU.
How is that for being “close” to its fans?

Fearless prediction.

If the Bears move to Indiana, they’ll still sell out.

The NFL is simply the biggest draw in American sports, regardless of venue.

It’s not a red herring.

As I said, the move won’t cost them many fans, certainly not enough to make a difference in the front office’s pocket books.

Still have comparable ticket sales, sellouts, etc.

The NFL is simply like that. No matter where the game takes place, people still go, watch on TV, buy merchandise, etc.

It is what it is.

Indiana with two nfl franchises…
With the Indiana population is it the state with the most nfl “power”?
This is a snapshot of…

Is this the latest news?

Basically what the bears want from Chicago and Illinois is another tax break. This is what it is all about.
So the bears want:
Another tax break
Public funding for their stadium
…while at the same time a record number of Illinoisans are leaving the state.

The bears reflect what is taking place in Illinois.

You mention NYCers driving to the meadowlands.

Statistics on that would be very interesting. I bet.

Historically, Giants fans have been much more wealthier from Jets fans.

I would bet that a significant majority of giant fans have been living in New York suburbs for generations.

Since the Giants used to play in the Bronx I would expect their wealthy fans come from the northern suburbs, including, but not limited to Westchester and Connecticut.

The Jets have always been white blue collar folks, but they too took part in white flight decades ago, not as long as giant fans.

I bet, a very small percentage actually comes from New York City, proper with a possible exception of Staten Island, which is much easier for them to get to Jersey.

I’m sure many Chicago fans are from the Greater Chicago metro as well, and not just the city limits.

Same for the Texans. I see Texans regalia all over the ‘Burbs.

My mom’s family is from Hammond and East Chicago. Even though both are on the Indiana side of the border, they get Chicago news, weather, etc.

Literally a Jets/Giants scenario. Nothing to see here.

Looks like chicago is actually closer to hammond than houston is to bridgeland. If the bears do it, the texans will be quick to flop out the new stadium or else city of houston stance

If that happens, people will say it’s a nothing Burger as with the Bears. Let the chips fall

Every time I read the headline I see “The Indiana Beavers”.
