The NIL needs YOU!

We are paying out 110-115% of what we are bringing in for interviews and podcasts. But while we were first and a big source for the guys in year one, we are small potatoes compared to where it’s gone. But we are fulfilling what we want to do.

We NEED to improve in NIL, we have no choice, it’s a new era of College Football.

The older heads will disagree but it’s adapt or die, there is no rule or tradition or any of that nonsense, CFB is a business

And we have a great chance to actually become a somewhat power in this landscape being located in Houston, we are blessed with an embarrassment of riches in talent and Fortune 500 businesses that donate to universities

We have to get it started, look what SMU is doing, they’re about to make the College Football Playoff without getting ANY conference payout. All at the hands of their donors. And now all of DFW and its businesses are buying into it.

We can do the same in Houston

We do have a choice. I have plenty of season tickets, I give to CP, I am subcribed to The Veer site.

But when is enough enough? College football is just a different version of the NFL. Imagine the Texans saying they need fans to contribute to NIL to help them get to the SB. That is how this is starting to feel, it will never be enough money. I have given plenty and will continue at my level but I cant justify giving more.

The problem is most of our younger fans will one day be supporting wherever their kids go to college. As most of our older students over years.
I truly wish it wasn’t that way

Tell you what Dippy…. you can donate on my behalf !!!

We do not have many old money alums to fund NIL like some other schools.

Nor do we have a big contingent of non-alumni fans to convince them to donate to a school they did not attend.

This is where the older graduates sending their kids to other schools is coming up to haunt us.

Paying free agent mercenaries, who can decide to hang it up at any moment for their next opportunity, is about as far down the list of things I’m spending my after tax income on as you can go.

This year’s NIL investment brought no return. Next year’s pool is going to need to find some new suckers to invest.

NIL should be 20+% of the TV contracts going to players, NOT asking fans to donate even more.

If players were on contract to stay with the school for more than one year, I might donate to more than Cougar Pride. But since they can just up and leave, I have better ways to use my money.

Why give NIL to these jokers? Like I said on an earlier chat, they constantly are asking people like me for money for god knows what, and when you ask what it is for and what the plan is to use it: crickets.

Why give CKS more cash to sit talented freshman on the bench? We brag about recruiting classes, but what difference does it make if CKS won’t play them? Every other top level team finds ways to incorporate freshman into the rotation on a consistent basis, except CKS. CKS is the Jeff Van Gundy of college basketball.

CWS? I will give him the BOD due to his being new, but so far what I have seen is not giving me any hope. Our offense is offensive; we can’t get a QB to complete a forward pass on a consistent basis.

I don’t even blame the coaches that much as they are who they are; I blame admin for hiring them.

Agreed 100%.

What’s the return on investment? How many millions did they pay that QB at Florida St and you see how that turned out. When players can take your money and then leave for the next biggest deal. Just donating money for players isn’t NIL, its pay to play. They need to drop the NIL moniker. College football was never designed for this, not all schools and donors are created equally. The rich will get richer and everyone else will flounder around and keep hiring and firing coaches and be paying millions in buyouts and begging fans to pay beyond their season tickets and donation levels.

It’s sports’ version of tip culture.

Why would I pay for another company’s employees? They can leave at any time.

I rather under the table money honestly - folks were more loyal to you then cause they knew what would happen if word got out

Now? Not worth it - paying a random guy who’ll bail when times get rough
