The Trend?

  1. Final Four

  2. Elite 8

  3. Sweet 16

Backwards? Seems so. If so, why?

How many teams have been to 4 straight Sweet 16s?

Last year’s team was playing with a decided handicap that the previous team wasn’t. Last year’s team at full staff was about as good as you could get as a Coog. That was a really special bunch.

I honestly never thought we should be ranked #1 this year simply because of our suspicious post production.

I also think you won’t see another Coog team where the guards aren’t killing it on rebounds. I think Sampson will fix that. He has said on several occasions that “defense and rebounding are something we do.” (Paraphrasing). “You can’t function in this system if you can’t do those things.”

There is literally no “take” in this post. Just a statement of fact and a question.

Isn’t his take it is a backwards trend?

Kansas won the natty last year. Knocked out in the R32 this year. Oh, no. A backwards trend. Fire Bill Self.

The amount of doomerism in the board when we have our first mini-slump in B12 play is gonna be crazy :sob:

Imagine if we go on a 3 game losing streak in the Big 12 next year. The site will crash

I mean it’s literally a trend. If you look up the definition of regression it fits the definition to a T. Now the question is what is the solution to break the trend, which is what he asked.

the word backwards is a flippin take, my friend

Is it? According to the definition of backward:

(of a movement) away from one’s front; in the direction of one’s back.

“he took a step backward”

So this is literally the definition of moving backwards from winning a championship.

lol we could go 14-6 in the debut B12 season along with a 25-7 overall record and people will still try to call the season a failure bc we already lost more games in ‘24 than we did in ‘23 or ‘22 :sob:

I will answer the OP on its merits.

Anything sweet16 and beyond can be viewed as virtually the same. Its really, really hard to win each of those games at that point, no matter the situation. Sweet 16 is the goal everything else is cream. Sure you want to win it all and you try danged hard to do it
But to expect it like it some sort of Sine wave of production and progression is not going to land the team, coaches or fanbase in a good spot

your problem is you dont know the definition of “take” not of backwards

Oh. I forgot we were ranked number 1 in the country this season. On multiple weeks. And lost 1 game in a single elimination. Oh, my. Backwards trend.

Wasn’t it the famous Shannon Sharp that said any season in which you don’t win a championship is a failure?
