There is no excuse for TDECU to not be a packed house every game this season

It still amuses me that people think that Baylor and TCU could have gone to the PAC 12.

Don’t we also have about 4K spaces right near UH over and above the 8300 on campus ones?

I’m thinking we have slightly over 12 k in and very close to UH in total.

Yrs ago like you mentioned we had only 3k or so and prob zero right off campus so it went from 3k to over 12k

Let’s say 85 % are full so it would represent 23% students living on or close to campus.

If we say 100% full it’s 27% students on campus.

So we’re ranging 23 to 27 % which makes us more residential bc it means 1 out of 4 are there. This is really good vs the 90s. I used 47k as our approx total student population.

If somehow UH owned the houses in that faculty neighborhood right near the bayou and Bayou Oaks, that would be a perfect area for Greek life.

UH reporting that premium seat inventory at TDECU has sold out. New inventory added.

They are going to turn some 300 level seats into premium inventory by providing concession delivery to the seats.

I guess this means Seatz is no longer a vendor at the stadium? Offerings were paltry but it was cool for getting a soda or beer.

Can they offer a piss pot delivery to those folks in 300?

Always felt that they never pushed events and prices to the public well. A billboard where people could see current events and bottom prices for single events when passing 45 is a huge missed opportunity.

i haven’t seen seatz in a couple of years, they were so clutch for basketball games.

Yeah I called them and it sounded pretty lame, $1500 a seat for terrible seats and crappy food service. But hey, at least they are trying.

Schools don’t handle NIL in the grand scheme of it so why are punishing folks for it

TCU and BU would not have been picked by the PAC12. Texas also had no interest in the PAC12 if Tech was going and OU had no interest if OSU was going… that’s what stopped it in the first place. But by that hypothetical, Big 12 would have lost TAMU, MIZZ, NEB, CU, TTU, and OSU all by 2013. I think the Big 12 then goes and gets Houston, TCU, WVU, and SMU in 2013-2014 to stay alive. When OU and UT leave for the SEC that means the Big 12 would probably be the conference blowing up and not the PAC12.

Its funny how things work out…PAC had a perfect opportunity to destroy the Big 12 right after Texas and OU left. PAC had the big press conference out in Cali and Houston and a lot of Big 12 schools were there, hoping for an announcement that PAC would expand and go to 16. Instead they dithered around and said they were still “studying” the situation and might make a decision later, but nothing at that time. Made every school there shake their heads in disbelief. Right after that, Big 12 goes to work and expands back to 12 and stabilizes themselves and saves the league.

We had the worst P5 attendance in the state in 2023 in ticket sales and physical attendance.

We need to do better !

Will be interesting to see if we come close to last year’s attendance with no Whorn on schedule

TCU counts tickets being bought, not tickets being scanned at the gate. TCU also has one of the smallest stadiums in the Big 12… numbers are skewed.

Almost all schools count it the same way, very few count actual tickets scanned, if any.

The same as UH which makes UH look even worse since we can’t even sell tickets, let alone put butts in seats.

Even with TX Tech in percentage of stadium filled.

SMU is now at 5000 Mustang Club members. Do we have at least that many in Cougar Pride? SMU made a big push for MC members in conjunction with joining ACC.

Until we sell out on a regular basis, I am for having family packs that allow the casual fan to attend games. I never understood not trying to have a full stadium. If the person doesn’t attend the game, they can’t buy any beer or food either so lost revenue. I am also for subsidizing the costs for young alumni. We can’t keep doing the same things and get the same results.

We should kick a$$ on our food and beer scene on game days with food trucks and a beer garden before the games. This is one area other schools can’t compete with us on so we should embrace the city and what it has to offer.

I used to do young alumni during the Herman years and those numbers are subpar outside of the OU and Louisville game.

I can bet it is worse now since the recent grads these days don’t want to put money towards a losing team.

In retrospect I see a correlation between Tony Levine / Mack Rhoades and Dana Holgorson / Chris Pezman.

In college football UH has had two big money opportunities to shine, increase fans in the seats, and show the college football world we have arrived. We fell flat on our face both times.

First time was the embarrasing loss of first game in the new TDECU stadium and otherwise uninspired season. We had good season ticket sales and we’re ready to be winners.

Second time is moving into the Big12 finally. Another uninspired season.

I think UH, Khator, and Fertita are tired of this and want to get more long-term into the football program. They’ve made a commitment to a proven winner in Coach Fritz. Now they need to do a thorough search for an equally proven and innovative driver for the Athletic Director
