This is the coach we need!

So if art Briles wasnt from Texas theboosters wouldnt have been paying? What are you talking about?

If Harline is good and has long term goals that doesn’t include UH, but would accept an offer, I have absolutely no problem with being a steppingstone for him.

Our best and most exciting years were with steppingstone coaches. Our worst? With lifers.

Yeah, but what happens after they leave? It was amazing the way the program deflated after Herman left. We lost a recruiting class, arguably two. Hire a good coach, but don’t pursue a nomad who will be looking to leave before he signs his contract. Plenty of very good coaches–Klieman, Whittingham, Calhoun, etc.–seem content at programs that don’t qualify as blueblood.

I’m saying Rhule inherited a terrible situation that was overcome with popularity amongst kids & money to buy recruits. That’s why he was able to be successful. Sark & Rhule had premium programs & dollars that helped them overcome a lack of Texas ties. We lack both currently.

Hartline is a candidate for the Michigan State job. He has said publicly he is ‘an NFL guy.’ He was drinking when he crashed an ATV and ended up in the hospital (shades of Bobby Petrino). And we hired an Ohio State offensive coordinator once before. He won a lot of games but bolted at the first opportunity. I’d pass on him.

This. I think if we wanted him we probably should have went after him last year. MSU and other BIG and SEC schools may get to him first, assuming he doesn’t go to the NFL as a coordinator.

Putting everything ELSE aside for a minute, you hire Art he ain’t leaving again and we’re winning big in under 3 years. You’ll take on some flack early, it’ll fade.

Honestly I would take Peterson the Boise State ex coach too.

I know a guy who did public affairs for a company that bought the one who owned a chemical plant in Bhopal, India. They said pretty much the same thing to him, that any negatives would be short-lived. Boy was that wrong. It will be the same with Art. Art is a radioactive biohazard of a coach. It’s not for nothing he is not coaching college football. The baggage he carries needs its own train for delivery. The other Big12 schools will not have it, which is the only solace I can take. Not happening, and thank goodness.

Isn’t Bhopal that plant once owned by Enron? Or was it the Union Carbide plant?

Union Carbide.
