My point was we expect Rice to be a cupcake. And sometimes we play down to their level.
Can’t forget the game at Rice when Bailiff gave Sumlin a coaching lesson. Sumlin did return the favor but they can, and have played us very tough.

Except for Manjack, UH’s receivers were pretty ho-hum. I don’t recall any of them really breaking open or fighting for the ball. The ‘smart guys’ will have the video so I expect them to cover us pretty tightly. Plus, our so-called “run game” must have stayed in the locker room last Saturday. I hope we have some fresh ideas.

Brown and Manjack played great!

The game where Manjack looked like a MAN. The others not so much.
Brown had over 100 yards last Saturday and made some tremendous catches. He may not have put it in the end zone but he was certainly as effective as Manjack.

UTSA outplayed us on defense and offense. We won special teams, turnovers, and penalties. I’m not calling this game a slam dunk by any measure.
Rice is going to play us close. It’s up to CDH to come up with an offensive game plan that can separate us from the Owls in the second half.

How did they out play us on defense when we forced 3 TOs? That is a part of playing defense

I don’t think they outplayed us. I do think we out-talented them.
Last year we had 4 NFL draft picks on the team and we squeaked out a win in OT. This year we have way more talent than they do and we’re able to get the win in a tight game.
UTSA is well coached. They simply don’t have the same level of talent but they maximize what they got.

All I care is for a W and that our offense takes a step up. Establishing our running game early is a must for us.
