We are 4-5 when Gray shoots less than 34% from behind the arc. 1-5 the last 6 times.
Live by Grayâs 3, die by his 3. Iâm not saying itâs his fault. The team just doesnât step up when Gray isnât hitting.

No Postgame interview with Branham afterwards again. Last year, they did it win or lose, but this year it seems to be inconsistent.
We still have to play Memphis, SMU and Cincy on the road. Itâs unlikely we finish this season with better than a 20-10 record and a 60 RPI which means the only way we go to the NCAA tourney is by winning the conference tourney.

We all knew 1 injury to a key player would derail the season.
Welp here we are. This is not a good basketball team. Not sure we can even compete in the NIT.
We are basically last years team without Pollard.
Bad rebounding, low basketball IQ, careless with the ball, inconsistent shooting, ZERO low post scoring, only 1 player who can create his own shot, and out coached in close games.
Coach Sampson needs to go. Yâall might not want to hear it but he needs to go.
Big V is redshirting when they are short handed.
No bench player to depend other than Van Beck. Brooks is too young.
Iâm all for the culture, and family atmosphere, but the team needs much more depth, and better talent inside.
I havenât missed a home game except for the two exhibitions. Have watched almost every away game on TV. While this team has talent, it is becoming apparent that it isnât a good team when matched up against equal or superior opponents. The possessions where Rob Gray goes isolation for a contested jump shot makes me want to pull my hair out.
Yall are starting to sound a lot like people on here did towards the end of the Penders era. Yall want top 50 results yet we give them bottom 150 attendance.
At the very least, you want to keep Sampson around for next season because next season will be ugly no matter who is the coach. Reminders of Willis Wilsonâs final season at Rice,
Come on, Progs. Sampson is still building this program. Big V wasnât going to be ready before the season and was going to be stuck in the big man rotation getting limited minutes when he got back. I doubt he would have been a difference maker tonight. We donât have a bench because Davis is out. Davis fixes a lot of the problems we had tonight and weâve had lately by keeping defenses honest on the inside.
But depth is hurting because we lost Pollard, Barnes, Weary, Johnson, and Rose last year. Thatâs a lot of talent thatâs very hard to replace in one offseason. Throw in Davisâs injury and weâre having to rely on guys like Brooks and Dupree in key situations, no offense to either one of them.
Until we get into the new arena and get some fans in there, we just arenât going to get the top players. Same problem Penders had. Give CKS until we get there before trying to fire him.

For that reason, this job is very attractive. A new coach would basically have a brand new basketball arena to go with top of the line facilitiesâŠWith a new coach that can win consistently, and new arena, attendance would improve. Unlike football, everyone is given a chance to play for a national championship. Just look what a world in difference coach Dixon has done at TCU.
@Progs you are either tripping balls or trolling. This ragtag but of misfits the best team we have had since the team we had in Penderss first season. Coach Sampson is doing the best with what he has and that is fine by me. These are my thoughts:
This team needs to be more agressive driving to the basket and stop getting into the lane and passing out. Once they are in the lane, they need to attack the basket.
I wish Dotson was more aggressive about taking his shot.
You put a decent big on this team and we are pretty much a tournament team.
Last year I hated Gray because he played too selfishly. This year he is much improved and only seems to play selfishly when he feels he has too. Which is a lot because the other players are just not confident enough in their shot selection.
Nkali needs to start and Chicken come off the bench.
The defense on this team is much improved.
