There is only one thing missing from his resume, he never built anything. Had he stayed at Houston for 5 or six years, gone through the recruiting cycles and been able to maintain the athletic level he found when he arrived then he could have moved on with a good chance of success.

Folks, he only had one good season as a head coach. He was more lucky than good

I think Herman had two good years, but couldn’t it be argued that he used Levine’s recruits? Beyond the annecdotes of Herman being a difficult person, it’s clear that he bit off more than he could chew in the new job, like Sumlin did. Personally, I understand the thrill of the fast paced, big time, but I respect those that are aware of themselves and build upon their experience.
