Good question… I’ve just read that it plagued him all season his 2nd year at Tech (the season he played us in the videos Pesik shared) and that he re-injured it at Creighton requiring surgery…
From what I can tell he had surgery on it after his soph season but then had issues with it last season (8 games) and was shutdown for the season due to the same injury… and had surgery again.
He was still in the mix to transfer to Ole Miss, Xavier, Zags & Providence so teams must think he’ll be okay.

The initial injury was diagnosed as femoroacetabular impingement, labral tear, and chondromalacia. I think his first surgery was in the summer of 2022, right after he got to Tech. I think there was a second surgery in between Tech and Creighton. What I’ve read about the most recent surgery was that it corrected another labral tear, but I haven’t seen much more than that.
Sampson will be his 4th head coach in 4 years. Some of his defensive shortcomings could be related to trying to adjust to a new system every year.

Yep. The big question is whether he can get and stay healthy, not whether he’ll play defense.
He initially thought it was a groin injury, so the pain isn’t where people might think when they hear “hip injury.”

How would he get a medical waiver after playing in 34 games? 
I’d say that’s about the longest of long shots.
They ask for a waiver for a season 2 or 3 yrs ago. No joke
