Transfer Portal 2025

Right. I was just thinking the same thing.

While there certainly justfications for the kid to make his own decisions - at that age - some kids can really benefit from a caring parents influence and guidance. There are countless examples where the parent could see a “bigger picture” better than their kid could (at least regarding some aspects).

Was it the right decision to go to UNLV? Who can say. “Wasted”?

Either way, if I was Sampson, sure I want your parents on board with you deciding you want to come here, but it all starts with the kid wanting to come here first NOT because your mommy wants you to come here.

It was wasted from development, as well as no NCAA tourney experience.

BTW, however it works out this time, UH came out fine both years. If Dedan had signed 2 years ago, Mylik would have been gone. If he had committed after last season, no Milos.

Exactly. Only thing holding this up is if Sampson can get over getting played twice.

Yeah, I personally wouldn’t take someone that left us standing at the altar 2x…

But per CKS, ppl like me (fans) don’t know what we don’t know :man_shrugging:

In addition there has to be some level of resentment knowing that had he been here last season, we would have had a true backup PG when Jamal went down against Duke. Then again, Mylik wouldn’t be here

These numbers are crazy.

What are we planning on paying football players down there?

It better be buceees gift cards at this point after you’re done paying your stud freshmen this much, or ISU might end up having to take your old spot in the AAC :rofl:

I’d be ok with Dedan. If he’s a baller and willing to put in the work, and sounds like he’d be willing to come even if Uzan stays (?)… imagine the depth in waves with Uzan, Kingston, Dedan?

seems like the portal craziness has gotten to everyone this year :sob:

Ya cuz they got Krivas coming back I’m assuming.

I like Veesaar, but he wasn’t really supposed to be a big factor this year had Krivas not gotten hurt.

Would rather have veesaar than krivas tbh

Ya idk much about Krivas personally, so it’s tough for me to have an opinion on that. They act like Krivas is the 2nd coming tho i know much tho

Btw love your activity on this thread @Emed0678

Keep it coming.

Appreciate bro

I want to meet the people who can spend this money and how I can get access to them - the other issue is everyone is telling each other about nil deals and it’s filtering down to the lowest levels and everyone is transferring thinking they can get nil

Sampson has said several times he likes to develop players and uses the portal when an immediate fill is needed.

I thought they were talking about the few portal players (Uzan, Wilson, and Cryer) that Sampson has taken the past couple of years.

Whoa, was not expecting this one.

Tyrese Hunter is a great example. Say what you will about the money, Iowa State was FULLY prepared and committed to building our entire roster around him for the next 3 years.

But he has an unfortunate family background and a lot of hangers on. He got his CBB NIL money and no ill will towards the kid. But he traded being the face of ISU basketball for 4 full years and all the character bonus points, goodwill, and support system that comes with it for a quick payday at Texas and Memphis (of all places). Not sure it was the right move at all.

I don’t blame him for not understanding that tradeoff, but i do blame those advising him. IMO they didn’t have his best interests in mind at all.
