Getting to know: Steelers wide receiver Demarcus Ayers
The Steelers drafted Ayers with the idea of having him inject life into a below-average kick return game. He totaled the third-most kickoff return yards while at the University of Houston. So far, the Steelers have given him a long look as a punt returner, a job which wide receivers Eli Rogers and Levi Norwood are trying to nail down, too. Ayers, though, doesn’t consider himself a one-trick pony. He’s trying to get offensive coordinator Todd Haley and receivers coach Richard Mann to notice him after he had 141 receptions for 1,686 yards for the Cougars.
