Tulane

He’s went bowling at Tulane 4 of the last 5 seasons and he’s about to win the AAC over 3 P5 universities… I’d say he’s set a trend…

Never.

At the time it probably did because back in those days, it was thought that number of TV sets and cable subscriptions in a market translated into bigger contracts.

It’s a tougher argument to make today, thanks to streaming media.

Because of that “brand size” matters more than markets today.

Tulane’s brand is VERY small.

It will not be of interest to any P5 except maybe the ACC, and it’ll only interest the ACC when it gets raided after its current TV contract ends.

If story is true, then it is a big over reaction to their year when the AAC wasn’t a very good league.

But, hey, it is their $$$$$$.

2016 Tulane 4–8 1–7 6th (West)
2017 Tulane 5–7 3–5 5th (West)
2018 Tulane 7–6 5–3 T–1st (West) W Cure
2019 Tulane 7–6 3–5 4th (West) W Armed Forces
2020 Tulane 6–6 3–5 T–7th L Famous Idaho Potato
2021 Tulane 2–10 1–7 T–9th
2022 Tulane 10–2 7–1

I don’t if that is a notable “trend”. Seems like one in name only, and a really low bar. All I see is a trend of sub .500 in conference play. That speaks louder to me. Sure, have it your way though since you felt compelled to defend. I won’t argue.

I think Tulane alums and admin will disagree with you that being bowl eligible doesn’t matter…

We can just openly declare things now and they will happen?

I will build a small, yet sensual, room in my garage. I request Ana de Armas moves in upon completion.

The sec declined Tulane in the late 80s and took s Carolina and Arkansas instead. Tulane isn’t going to the sec

This article chronicles the dumbest decision in the history of college football

As I’ve said “low bar”, but that is their business and to each their own. I appreciate the Tulane Bowl history lesson. Frankly, I couldn’t care less if they agree with me or not.

That said, if you like it, I love it, Kyle.

What if i love it

We should’ve hire Fritz years ago when looking for replacement after Herman bolted…the man resume shows he is a winner and knows how to put a staff together. maybe he is not a good interviewer never understood why we never hired him.

Continuity… :-1:

Is there a source for this? I haven’t been able to find an announcement for anything other than Fritz being extended (for an unspecified amount).

If true, Fritz would be making more than CDH.

Georgia Tech leaving the year before was dumber. Tulane would have just wound up being Vanderbilt West. They were never going to compete again, and the writing was on the wall. GT, on the other hand, thought they were too good for the SEC, and wanted to be Notre Dame South. That, uh…didn’t go according to plan.

Heck, I’d put UChicago leaving the Big Ten ahead of Tulane leaving the SEC. That one might be the dumbest.

All pretty bad by their “leadership”

Ga tech got mad bc Bama was over signing or signing tons of players to play keep away and Tulane thought it could be a Notre dame playing nationally. Both had issues competing back then and now it’s way tougher in the sec. It’s still a stupid decision by both bc vandy survived and kentucky.

I watched a documentary just last weekend on the 1899 Sewanee Tigers football team. Many experts, including Vince Dooley, Bobby Bowden, and Johnny Majors, consider them the best team of all time. At the end of the documentary, a scroll ran across the screen, saying that since Sewanee was a charter member of the SEC, they retained the right to rejoin the conference at anytime. Since Tulane and Georgia Tech also were charter members, it seems like they would have the right to rejoin also.

UChicago can go back to the B1G anytime it wants to because they are a charter member. Though they seem to be happy in D3.
