Moved past BC and a couple respectable G5 programs like Boise and App St. A couple more commits and we’ll be in the KState-BYU range, which would be awesome given where we were like a week ago.

Houston: The Cougars are set to hire former Mississippi State offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay as offensive coordinator, sources tell 247Sports’ Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz. Additionally, Houston will hire Baylor tight ends coach Shawn Bell as quarterbacks coach. Bell’s brother, Brian, a QC at Baylor, will also join the staff in an off-field role.

Has deep recruiting connections in DFW/ Central TX.
Think I saw that on 365 Sports tuesday’s Baylor show with C Smoakie.

Brian Bell was the QB at SHSU when Fritz took SHSU to FCS CSHIP ( 2011, 2012 ) 2 yrs in row. so there’s your connection. Sorry to certain poster i had to bring SAM into convo, just trying to provide info as needed.

Also Bell is close to The Lagways. Bell and Lagway Sr played on the same Baylor team together. Maybe it’s more of a reason to flip DJ Lagway. He didn’t go to Baylor but baylor was the top choice if he stayed in Texas.

That was one year in a transitioning team after the Pirate passed. He was a hot commodity prior or an SEC team wouldn’t have taken him from the G5 ranks. His offenses have always looked to be pretty potent. I’m going glass half full on this one. Much happier about him than I was on Slade Nagle.

This is excellent news. Shawn was my qb in high school. Brian was the ball boy my senior year. Their dad was our coach. Coach Mark Bell is a minor legend in central Texas high school football and is well regarded in coaching circles. Shawn was a pretty good HS coach himself before he went to the college ranks and is super connected amongst high school coaches. Brian was the head coach at my alma mater (China spring) in 2021 and won our first state title since 1977. I’m sure both of them are gonna be stars in the coaching business with a little seasoning.
